iOS 17.1.1 - Issues with iPhone touch screen

This morning I updated my iPhone 15 pro (3 week old phone) to iOS 17.1.1. Prior to the update everything worked fine. After the update the touch screen does not respond. The screen works and the buttons work, but the touch feature is completely unresponsive. I have restarted the phone using the up vol, down vol and hold the power button several times with no success on restoring touch.

I can still wirelessly charge my phone, but wired charging does not work either. (this is also a new issue post 17.1.1 update)

Anyone else seeing these issues? Any suggestions before I go back to ATT?

IF this happens, DON'T go to the Apple Store. All you have to do is this:

  1. tap the volume up once
  2. tap the volume down once
  3. hold the power button until you see the apple logo (it will take about 40 seconds so be patient)

Then, VOILA! Restored!

I have an iPhone 11 and the touch screen is screwed up. I have difficulty trying to get the letter M to write. Sometimes it works but, I have to repeatedly hit it to make it come on. The other is the screen does stuff on its own. It changes screens and I’m not touching my phone. The screen freezes too at times and I can’t scroll. I have to swipe the screen off. I was on YouTube last night and my screen turned black. It put me on some private unseen mode. Can’t remember what it was called, but again, I’m not touching the screen. It’s annoying!

Had this exact issue on my 15 Pro last weekend. Ended up having to book into Apple shop for repair. They had seen one the day beforehand. Fix ended up being a mid repair with screen replacement. Lost all data as I hadn’t had chance to back the phone up (only had it 3 weeks). They advised me not to update for a couple of weeks when a new version of software was available.

I've been having a few issues with the touch screen but it's mostly when they keyboard comes up to type something.i use Gboard but as soon as the keyboard comes up and I press a key. It switches to what looks like a cross between Gboard and iOS default keyboard. Other touchscreen issues are more random and only occasionally will give me problems but nothing consistent to anything specific other than keyboard.

I use the fast charging cable and Apple charger for my iphone 11 and I have no issues with charging my phone. Have you tried using the cable and separately the charger with other devices. It's possible it could be either the cable or charger and best to check it nothing else to at least rule them out. Do each separately though, cable with different charger and charger with different cable that have been confirmed to work. This will also help with determining which if either of them are having issues. Also trying another cable and charger after testing on separate device and/or the charger/cable you used when the issue occurred with a different device that you confirmed doesn't have the issue. Sorry if I confuse you at all but this is to determine if it's the device or bad charger/cable or any mix of the 3 by ruling out what does work and what doesn't. It's also something that's saved me on occasions from replacing wrong thing after assuming the worse.

I use iphone 11 and even though I'm experiencing issues with the touch screen and screen itself. It's very mild compared to what you and even more for others in what's been happening. For me it's mostly the keyboard and I use Gboard as my keyboard. A lot of times I've experienced it looking like the default keyboard when I press a key right after it comes up. Yet it's still functioning as Gboard and I have to switch to default keyboard then back to Gboard to get the custom settings to work and in part because I didn't really like the layout of the default keyboard. Unfortunately for a number of people using iPhone 15 & I think 13. The touch screen becomes completely unresponsive and requires a hard reset since hard restart doesn't work for them. My issue is mildly annoying and I can wait to see if it's fixed in the next update. If not I might have to do hard reset myself.

After the update, I hit continue and my phone touchscreen was not working--just kept 'thinking' on the screen. I tried to turn phone off but it was frozen on that off screen and touchscreen still not working. I went on this page on my computer and found someone who suggested to press quickly and release the up volume, then the down volume, then the right side button. I did this and it went to 'slide to turn off' and I was able to slide to turn it off, restarted the phone and now it is back to normal. This worked!

I literally just created a post abt this. Yes apple support usually no help whatsoever. Anyways I have an iphone 15 pro max and it sometimes takes me 4-5 times for my phone to actually realize that I am tapping to wake it( I know I could just hit the side button have just always liked tapping the screen before ) have done all of the basic troubleshooting steps other then putting it in recovery mode- doing a computer backup. This post is really relieving for me that it’s not just me struggling with this
