iOS 17.1.1 - Issues with iPhone touch screen

This morning I updated my iPhone 15 pro (3 week old phone) to iOS 17.1.1. Prior to the update everything worked fine. After the update the touch screen does not respond. The screen works and the buttons work, but the touch feature is completely unresponsive. I have restarted the phone using the up vol, down vol and hold the power button several times with no success on restoring touch.

I can still wirelessly charge my phone, but wired charging does not work either. (this is also a new issue post 17.1.1 update)

Anyone else seeing these issues? Any suggestions before I go back to ATT?

FIXED!!!! Thank you to those that recommended Apple Configurator!! I downloaded it from App Store, connected my phone and followed Step 3 here... Revive or restore a Mac with Apple silicon using Apple Configurator – Apple Support (UK) (appreciate it's a Mac post but step 3 applies to iphones too)

No factory reset or loss of data or the pain of setting up banking apps and apple pay etc.... :)

This is by far the WORST UPDATE EVER!

I can't get to the phone keypad for responses to automated questions since the update. Hard to even text and go back to correct a sentence. Very easy to accidentally hit FaceTime while on a call with the new home screen button placement at the bottom. Underlining on text annoying - no reason for it as words are not misspelled. What does that blue line even mean?

APPLE PLEASE DO SOMETHING SOON TO CORRECT THESE IMPORTANT ISSUES.

Hi:

I'm dealing with this same issue -- overnight update leads to a bricked phone in the morning. I've tried the trick using the buttons, but after a dozen attempts, there's no change. Sorry to all of you who are experiencing this, it's a real pain!

As to Apple Configurator, I'd need to upgrade to the latest OS and I don't want to do that to my computer because a number of third party applications do not work with it.

Fortunately, my iCloud backup is two days old, so I'm thinking the path is to factory restore the phone and then load from that iCloud backup. Imperfect, but close enough. Does this seem like the right approach?

Further, I can't seem to access my phone through the finder window to do a factory restore. Is my only option to erase through Find My and restore from iCloud backup?

I literally just created a post abt this. Yes apple support usually no help whatsoever. Anyways I have an iphone 15 pro max and it sometimes takes me 4-5 times for my phone to actually realize that I am tapping to wake it( I know I could just hit the side button have just always liked tapping the screen before ) have done all of the basic troubleshooting steps other then putting it in recovery mode- doing a computer backup. This post is really relieving for me that it’s not just me struggling with this

I know that I am not the person that you’re replying to. but i’m literally so sorry you’re facing the issues that you’re facing you’re definitely not alone, I’m currently experiencing the same issues that you are and my restore didn’t fix the issues at all, I don’t even honestly care to have an appointment about this cause I honestly think it’s time for apple to just stop appleing. at this point it’s getting embarrassing

I just finished updating to 17.1.2. on my iPhone 11. It didn’t work at all. The only way I can type letters M, O, and @ is if I turn my phone sideways. If I try right side up, I have to repeatedly hit it over and over until the letter pops up, or I just give up. Also the screen is still very sensitive. It can be difficult to swipe off open screens, or I barely touch the phone and apps are popping up. I swear this thing has a virus because I had at one time apps popping up like crazy all by itself and I wasn’t even touching the phone. What scared me was my contacts opened and it randomly selected someone and it started typing a message. It was a coherent message too. I got the phone to shut down thankfully before anything was sent. I know my phone isn’t as bad as some of you on here, but it’s enough for me to say goodbye to the iPhone. Hello Google Pixel.

odd I'm using iPhone 11 and not having this issue. At first it seemed like the update fixed the issue but a few hours later it started up again. When keyboard comes up I see 1-2 keys come up as if being long pressed then the keyboard suddenly changes to the default keyboard from Gboard. It's a minor inconvenience that doesn't happen every time but it is frequent and usually when I'm holding it sideways. I am aware that some iphone users including myself have also been experiencing issues with a game we play right after the update or within a few hours of it. Ranging from black screens to certain malfunctions however it could be something that was bad timing. Even this was more minor inconvenience I experienced with most of the issues being resolved except one.

Unfortunately they don't reveal any details of the issues being experienced due to the fact that they might also be used to exploit it for malicious reasons by another party. Especially with those who haven't updated the iOS from a recent version that could have a critical security issue that that wasn't being abused by others. Such as to hack a device and/or jailbreak it without the knowledge of the owne. If anything they've mentioned in updates if there's anything that involved a security update but that's as far as any information about it. They also include the reason why they don't include more details such as what the problem was similar to what I explained. I do agree with you on one point and that's having a better system that immediately gives a notification that update is available the moment it's available for the device being used. I usually have check if there's any update and the rare times I get a notification it's days after the update was available to install

There are some things that are shared regarding what's included in the updates which is accessible in a link included when you asked if you want to download/install it. Usually it's new features or various bug fixes.

I have attempted to download the Apple Configurator from the App Store, however, I am receiving a message that states I cannot download the app until my MacBook has been updated with IOS 14. Currently my MacBook is updated with the latest software which is MacOS 13.6.3. There is no IOS 14 for MacBook. I can't downloaded to my phone. My screen is unresponsive, it is why I am on this thread to start with.

Is there a way I can download Apple Configurator to my MacBook?

Hey there! I am having this issue with my brand new 15 pro max. I went to download the configurator app, and it looks like I am not able to due to my MacBook running macOS 12.7.3 and no further updates are available.

Is there any other way to get this app? Do I need to have my phone connected to the device in order to use it, or can a friend remotely complete the configuring through their computer?

Super frustrated as this phone is BRAND NEW and I don't want to lose all of my data.
