Apple Pay/Wallet not working after iOS 17.1.1 Software Update!

After my iOS 17.1.1 software update this morning, my Apple Pay / Wallet does not want to work. I have tried to reload my cards from the Bank Apps, I have restarted and I have logged out and back into my Apple ID Profile, all without success. What is the fix, please?

iPhone 13, iOS 17

Same issue here: iPhone 15 Pro Max Apple Pay not working - Apple Community

I even replaced a 4 weeks old iPhone 15 Pro Max with a new 15 Pro Max and after updating to 17.1.1 I have AGAIN the same issue. I doubt both phones have hardware issues. IOS 17 is simply a buggy system and Apple is not doing anything to fix it.

If you have other devices that can use Apple Pay (Apple Watch, iPad, or MacBook) try using Apple Pay on any of those devices and might resolve the issue. That’s what I did when I paid for an iPad mini yesterday using my Apple Watch and manually placed my Apple Card info, and viola, it magically fixed itself despite Apple agents saying it was a hardware issue in the first place.

A user on reddit.com posted 6 days ago about Apple Pay not working on iPhone 15 Pro with iOS 17, but mentioned that it was solved with the 17.1.2 b.eta for iPhone 12. Hopefully, this means Apple has truly fixed the issue for good and it's not just a temporary fix that only works 1-2 times after a reboot.

I was informed, by Apple, and Verizon, after scan of my phone, that the NFC chip was malfunctioning/damaged following the install, and I had to get a new phone. Luckily, I had insurance with Verizon. They replaced the phone (same exact model, IPhone 13 Pro Max, used iCloud to restore), I installed the update fresh, as Apple would not allow me to proceed without installing it despite Verizon instructing me NOT to install it if possible, and magically Apple Pay allowed me to set up cards/worked. Something in the update is causing the NFC chips/antenna to malfunction / break and then causes issues with banking cards.

Same thing happens here! Then I went to Apple Store trying to fix the issue. The technician run the test and said there‘s a hardware damage and I need to replace half of the motherboard, which doesn't make sense to me at all! If hardware has problem then the function should immediate can't work, why it only goes wrong after system update. Let me know if find ways to fix the issue.

Had the same issue after updating to 17.1.2, phone was rebooting when I went to use it first, everything else seemed to be working fine but Apple Pay and Apple wallet wasn’t working at all and kept giving me error message when I tried to add my card. Spoke to Apple support who suggested I brought my phone into the store, however signing out of iCloud and back in and the fully rebooting my phone fixed the issue

I had the same issue on my iPhone 13 my issue was my phone used to be able to pay by touch and 3 weeks ago it stoped. I rebooted and signed in and out of Icloud. nada.. my cards are there but tech to pay won't work. I called apple and they ran a diagnostic on the the phone and said no issues. so IDK... it works with my apple watch but my phone is a no go

ApplePay stopped working on my iPhone 15 at some point around November 2 (that’s the last transaction I see). I don’t know what is version I had, but I always stay as up to date as I can be. I tried several vendors and none of them worked. I called Apple support and after an hour of diagnosing things they said they couldn’t find a problem. They requested I call them next time it doesn’t work, eg from the cafe. However, I’ve decided that I don’t have more time for this problem if it’s not me and when I can just whip out my physical credit card and pay almost as easily as with my phone.

I was able to complete 2 transactions in the last week but then another attempt yesterday failed.😞

It's been two months now… I hope they figure it out soonish because I liked it while it worked!

I use the libre 3 sensor and the previous update weeks ago stopped it from working. I knew it had to be the update cause it all of sudden stopped taking my data

my cards aren’t working eithier now from the 17 update. I’m getting my card is about to expire and it doesn’t for another two years and that I need to update my card information

Same here! If it wasn’t for running our business on my MacBook (which cost me almost $4k) and having everything linked to my iPad and iPhone I would definitely be switching! This last update has wrecked my phone! Never had one bad thing to say about apple for the past 18 years until now! I’ve tried everything and so has tech support, I’m beyond upset!

I was trying to do that, but surprisingly I could not sign out of my icloud or honestly do anything with my icloud beside how much storage i have left. I needed to access it to cancel the storage plan i had to take out the card in my account. I ended up putting in another that i did not want to and fixed the problem. the problem was that apple was trying to say my card was expired and the security code was put in wrong. 1) my card does not expire for a couple of yrs now 2) how could I have used my card for over the last yr in my phone if the security code was wrong??
