Apple Pay/Wallet not working after iOS 17.1.1 Software Update!

After my iOS 17.1.1 software update this morning, my Apple Pay / Wallet does not want to work. I have tried to reload my cards from the Bank Apps, I have restarted and I have logged out and back into my Apple ID Profile, all without success. What is the fix, please?

My iPhone 12 updated to iOS 17.1.1 overnight. Did some sort of data recovery process upon reboot but when it started up again I got a message saying there was an Apple Pay issue. Apple diagnosed remotely that there was an Apple Pay sensor issue, suggested I go to the local Apple Store to have the software re-installed. Rep there did not even offer to re-install, just went straight to needing a $465 CAD repair. Was a bit sassy with me when I asked why the pricey repair when the problem was clearly caused by the software update. Totally not acceptable IMO, Apple! I will try multiple reboots in the hopes it will help. Phone still works otherwise and sure, I can pull out the actual card but it is frustrating that Apple's update messed with the hardware on my phone. UPDATE: I removed my cards from Apple Wallet and then tried to re-add, but got an error message that I could not set up Apple Pay. Rebooted and was able to add one card successfully, but another shows up as a previous card and I get an error to try later when I try to re-add it. Will keep rebooting in the hopes that I can add the second one and then keep my fingers crossed that I will actually be able to use Apple Pay. UPDATE 2: The card that was showing up as a 'previous card' could not be added after several reboots, I discovered that I was able to remove it from the 'previous card' list by tapping on 'previous cards' then on Edit, and then the removal icon. Was able to successfully add it back into my wallet after that. WHAT A SCAM THAT APPLE WENT RIGHT TO A COSTLY HARDWARE REPAIR.

That’s what I was pointing out! Why ask your customers to pay for a service that they have created in the first place? And yet the supervisor Nick told me that it has to be that way. He said that their diagnostic tool is 100% accurate (I disagree as nothing is 100% sure specially when it comes to softwares and hardware) so Apple wants me to pay for a problem that they created in the first place.

Same thing happens here! Then I went to Apple Store trying to fix the issue. The technician run the test and said there‘s a hardware damage and I need to replace half of the motherboard, which doesn't make sense to me at all! If hardware has problem then the function should immediate can't work, why it only goes wrong after system update. Let me know if find ways to fix the issue.

I had the same issue on my iPhone 13 my issue was my phone used to be able to pay by touch and 3 weeks ago it stoped. I rebooted and signed in and out of Icloud. nada.. my cards are there but tech to pay won't work. I called apple and they ran a diagnostic on the the phone and said no issues. so IDK... it works with my apple watch but my phone is a no go

ApplePay stopped working on my iPhone 15 at some point around November 2 (that’s the last transaction I see). I don’t know what is version I had, but I always stay as up to date as I can be. I tried several vendors and none of them worked. I called Apple support and after an hour of diagnosing things they said they couldn’t find a problem. They requested I call them next time it doesn’t work, eg from the cafe. However, I’ve decided that I don’t have more time for this problem if it’s not me and when I can just whip out my physical credit card and pay almost as easily as with my phone.

I was able to complete 2 transactions in the last week but then another attempt yesterday failed.😞

It's been two months now… I hope they figure it out soonish because I liked it while it worked!

Same here! If it wasn’t for running our business on my MacBook (which cost me almost $4k) and having everything linked to my iPad and iPhone I would definitely be switching! This last update has wrecked my phone! Never had one bad thing to say about apple for the past 18 years until now! I’ve tried everything and so has tech support, I’m beyond upset!

Apple offered you Apple Care+ and AT&T offered you their extended warranty policy as well. The standard warranty is one year of manufacturer defects in materials and workmanship. This term is standard in the electronics industry and has been for years. If you failed to purchase optional coverage, knowing the limitations, I fail to understand how that’s Apples or AT&Ts fault.

If you‘ve been paying your cell phone bill with a credit card you may want to review the benefits offered by the card. I have several credit cards each offering $800 of extended coverage if I pay the bill with the credit card.

If by "offer" you are referring to services which you have to pay for, then it's not an offer in the least. Apple customers pay a premium for products sold to them, and the internal components of the device should, at the very least, last the duration of the payment contracts set up by their service providers.

The credit card coverage is also another deflection on the QC issues at Apple.

It’s called due diligence. Take a little personal responsibility and explore/learn about what you’re purchasing. If you thought your purchase was covered for the length of the finance agreement, whose fault is that you didn’t know?

Did Apple twist your arm to purchase a phone from AT&T or did you have free will and make that decision? Did you even read the warranty you were getting with the device? When do people accept responsibility for the decisions they make? How far do you want to go?

Apple’s planned obsolescence considers a QTY 5 year old laptop “vintage”…a QTY 2 year old phone out of warranty. They charge their customers a premium while throttling bandwidth speeds & producing chinesium bricks with failed internal components by the hundreds of thousands while continueing to pledge allegiance to the environment. News flash: Make a product that lasts and your impact on the environment will increase a millionfold. (FAULTY NFC SENSOR / BUTTERFLY KEYBOARD LEVEL UNLOCKED)

You can continue to try and deflect the blame back at me but I’m not the only one who feels this way.

My Apple Pay was working up till the new year. iPhone kept telling me my visa card was expired, it wasn’t. I tried to remove it but it wouldn’t allow me unless I put the 3 digit number, which the phone wouldn’t accept because it thought card expired. Signed out of iCloud, reset the phone, and logged back in. Now Apple Pay won’t work at all. I have iPhone 13 pro
