I just updated from Ventura to Sonoma 14.1.1. I use Word 16.79.1. When editing many footnotes I normally open the doc in draft view and click footnotes, in order to be able to see all of the footnotes at once.
Now, I can open draft view fine. However, when I click on footnotes I see a blank screen with the word footnotes. (I have attached a screenshot). Ideas?

I got a reply from MS––they suggested updating to Sonoma 14.3.1 which I did not want to do (other bugs apparently). BUT they gave me link to all versions of MS Office, and suggested I could install an older version as a temporary fix. I de-installed Word 16.82 (the latest where he incompatibility lies), and installed first 16.79, same problem, so I went to 16.69 (same version I have on my laptop, which has Mojave) and it worked!!!! Footnotes are there in draft, using my new IMac with Sonoma.
FYI, it asks you to sign into MS 365 to use, but does not force you to update to 16.82.

Thank you! I was nervous about uninstalling my current Word but finally did it and reinstalled this. It worked!!
Unfortunately that didn't work for me. Still stuck with the blank screen.
I have the same problem. I called Apple and Microsoft and I have uninstalled Word. Nothing works. It all started when I got Sonoma.
Nothing here worked for me. I did what elderodo did to get through this stress. Deleting and reinstalling does not help.
