I updated to 17.1.1 and my volume was fine before I did the update. Both bottom speaker and top speak worked like a charm. Did the update and everything cut out for the bottom speaker. Went to an Apple Store to do the diagnostics on it there is nothing wrong with the hardware. Apple please fix the issue with your software I’m not the only one who is having an issue. Iphone is iPhone 11 Pro just haven’t updated it on my login here.

17.1.2 12-ProMax - Phone Volume issues can barely hear callers voices, issues happened after the 17.1.1 software update.
Apple please correct cannot hear callers with the phone volume set at Max level in quiet and and public background noise areas.

My reply to Apple support was deleted because what I thought of the most recent update. Having said that, I think this update is very similar to the “battery” update a few years ago and it took Apple 3 years to admit they downgraded the battery usage so we all dumped our phones?
iPhone 13 Pro Max, just over 1 year old, no previous issues.
I have had the exact same issue with my speaker since the iOS 17.1.1 update. When on speaker phone it sounds like I am far away. My speaker will not pick up sound on Snapchat, but will for voice memos, talk to text, and on the iPhone video.
Ok so I don’t know what going on with this update but before this update my AirPod pros were loud and Apple car play was loud and my iPhone 13 was louder. After the update Apple car play, my air pods and my phone have been very quiet. Literally u can hear almost nothing when it’s halfway turned up and on max I can hear my tv before I could not hear a thing. Apple please fix the issues!!
Nope I tried everything for fixes and nothing. I took it to the Apple Store told me it wasn’t a hardware issue, takes to their I.t. And they told it wasn’t a software issue🙄(🐄💩)
im just going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new phone.. I think I may be going to google or Samsung after this..
what I can say is this there are work arounds. If you can find the old iPhone headphones that came with phone that can plug into the port you can talk to people at normal volume. But other than that you are s.o.l.
I am having similar problems. I turned my phone off and the volume controls worked for a bit then went back to the same problem. It’s a bug. When I play something on audible or another app, my phone volume controls do nothing. The sound plays at its own volume! When I go to settings-sounds and haptics - I can make an adjustment on the master volume but it is incoherent. It can go up but sometimes if I lower it the sound volume is at zero even though the volume control is raised and lowered. This is a massive problem. Sometimes when I hook volume to Bluetooth speakers the volume coming out of the speaker system is really low. Nothing changes it. Unless I go to settings-sounds but then it explodes into super high volume even though I didn’t turn it up. There is no rhyme or reason to any of the volume controls. It is absolutely ridiculous. Fix the Apple! I’m sick of this impoverished quality.
Same issue with the 17.1+ update(s). No fix still. I’ve tried all these items and nothing has fixed the sound during a call. Everything is fine when playing via speakers, headsets, etc. Just in call volume is about 1/4 what it used to be the day prior to the update that caused this.

Another tip/trick that might help is go to Settings —> Accessibility —> Audio/Visual —> turn on Mono Audio.
redownloaded Apple Music to try it. Went to music in settings and unchecked sound check. No luck didn’t work for me.
Iphone 11 pro max after the update 17.1.2 the volume of the phone is too low. Cant barely hear the music or the voice while doing facetime even the messenger app. I dont know
That fix lasted 1 week and it’s back to nothing! Does Apple geeks who work in the software dept read this stuff! And a fix!!!
Tried it but this fix doesn’t last long and already Apple is rooting their horn “new update in March” but can’t fix this!!

None of these solutions have fixed the problem. Just tried the music one that doesn’t work either! I’m getting very frustrated with Apple!
Did it work? Until now i am afraid to upgrade my phone because of this changes until now barely hear someone during calls and while watching videos
