gmail really slow in Google Chrome on Monterey 12.7.1 on MacBook Pro 2016. How to fix?

Hello!

I was wondering if I could get any advice. I know my MacBook is on the older side, from 2016. The latest iOS I can get is Monterey 12.7.1.

I don't recall when was the last update I could get. Since November 20, 2023, my gmail has been incredibly slow while using Google Chrome. The lag time is around minute for any operation when working on gmail, which feels like an eternity and not effcieint when working. I have opted to write emails on Word and copy/paste to Gmail.

Every other application or website is working properly. Even typing this message on Chrome has no lag time. I have the latest update for Google Chrome (Version 120.0.6099.62).

Any advice on what can I do to fix this issue?

Thanks.

Are you running any VPN, Anti-Virus, or Cleaning apps?

Use the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...

Start with this of M1 or M2 Mac...

On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.

Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.

Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.

Select a volume.

Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.

The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Restart normally.

Delete this file & restart...

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.adobe.ARM.***.plist

~ tilde indicates your home folder

Apple hid the Users' Library folders...

Method 1:

1 From the Finder, select the Go menu at top of the screen, and choose Go to Folder.

2 In the window that opens, enter ~/Library, and click Go.

Try one of these two…

You can use Drive DX to possibly get a better view of Drive health…

Thanks to Jack-19…

It may be wise to run SMART Utility to check the drives' health.

How often do you run it on the Battery power?
