Audible text notifications being muted when wearing Watch 9.

Is there a workaround to the text notifications being muted on your phone while wearing the Watch? I’m missing so many texts!

I prefer to have haptic only on my watch & audible on my phone. But my text notifications are silent while I’m wearing the watch.

I don’t understand why the user cannot alter these preferences! These are basic configurations. My old Samsung watch gave complete control over device actions. I anticipated Apple products would be further advanced & give users more control.

I have a Watch 9 & 15 pro for reference.

Your iPhone and watch are working exactly as designed to work. When your iPhone is open, notifications will be delivered to your iPhone. When your iPhone is not open, notifications will be delivered to your watch. Notifications come to one or the other, but NOT both.

You might want set up Haptics on your Apple Watch and make them Prominent, so you get a strong tap on your wrist, which is very difficult to miss.

To set up Haptics on your watch, open either the settings app on your your watch or the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and, then Sounds & Haptics. Turn on Haptic Alerts and choose Prominent.
