Go to system prefs, Network (Wifi)->Advanced->TCP/IP tab and set Configure IPv6 to "Automatically". Save and you should be good to go. Might have to disconnect/re-connect or turn wifi off/on.

Good luck!

DHCP Is Broken, I can no longer connect two of my Macbook Pro's that are both M1s, they are different macOS, one is Sonoma, one is Monetery. I have an older Macboo Pro that still connects without issue.

Manually setting DHCP like this describes helped on one of my Macbooks but not the other

I have tried everything:

  • Configure IPv6 to "Automatically".
  • Reset Network Settings on iPhone
  • iPhone updated to latest iOS
  • Renewed DHCP
  • Deleted WiFi Connection
  • Reboot iPhone
  • Reboot Macbook Pro

The only that worked and my iPhone has to have Maximize Compatibility was manually setting DHCP as described in link above

My issue is actually two M1 Macbook Pros in the family no longer connected to my hotspot but another Macbook Pro did.

  • Macbook Pro M1 Sonoma 14.3 - not working
  • Macbook Pro M1 Monterey 12.6 - not working
  • Macbook Pro Big Sur 11.3 - working

Both Macbook Pro M1s computed 192.0.0.2 address with router 192.0.0.1.

Changing it from DHCP to Manual with IP 172.20.10.2, Mask 255.255.255.240 and router 172.20.10.1 got it working.

I noticed I only had to switch to Manual for the ipv4 DHCP once, the next time my hotspot worked for my Macbook Pro that was not working, but my daughter's Macbook Pro was different, it did start to connect with manual settings but was slow and intermittent connection.

I have to have my iPhone hotspot settings in Maximum Compatibility mode (the hotspot will not even display otherwise)

This manual setting of the IPv4 is the only foolproof way to do this and no clue why Apple is taking so long to fix an near essential issue - this should be a clear part of any qualification test for release software. Impact is very widespread it seems.

Set IPv4 to manual on your TCP/IP settings (click details on a mac for your WIFI connection)

Set IPv4 to 172.20.10.x, where X is anything from 2 to 254 (if you have more than one device you can use unique IPs)

Set Mask to 255.255.255.0

Set Router/Gateway to 172.20.10.1.

Change this EVERY time you move to a different WIFI.

Call support and complain

I have been trying to fix this for nearly a weekend, and nothing did really work – until I rebooted my MacBook M1 macOS Big Sur 11.7.10. *headbang*

I reset the network settings on the iPhone, I tried using static IP address, I changed the iPhone device name (which worked, funny enough, for the first connection but after that not anymore), I tried setting up Bluetooth PAN for tether, it just wouldn't.

I should have seen this sooner, as my iPad could connect to the hotspot without problems all along.

Same issue for me, iOS 17.2.1 iPhone that provides the Hotspot. The Hotspot is connected successfully but no internet. This no internet issue with solid hotspot connection occurs both on my Macbook Pro w/ Sonoma 14.2.1 & my Macbook pro w/ Monterey 12.6.

My provider is T-mobile.

You can tell this is an Apple issue and not a carrier issue but studying online community forum.

Here in this Apple support issue https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255360058?sortBy=best you can get a sense that Apple for sure made modifications to their network firmware (probably to improve battery life) and has cause network regression.

Note, I have done the following reported possible fixed without success:

  • Settings -> Network Settings -> Advanced -> TCP/IP -> Configure IPv6 -> Automatically
  • Reset Network Settings on my iPhone
  • Turned on Maximize Compatibility (this setting is NEW and is for sure a clue that Apple has been tinkering with network features)
  • Restarted iPhone
  • Forget the network on both my Macbook Pros

i feel totally the same - this hotspot is my lifeline to get jobs and in the end, i got a really cheap Servo king 4G Miniphone from AliExpress which i never ever, ever even thot of buying an android and from such a website — but i really have no budget and it arrived fast even though the delivery said two months later but it arrived in days ***The only catch is i needed to (1) place the phone upright cos the battery will overheat and cause restarts (2) i also had to remove and insert my SIM card from my iphone each time —- but it works and is 10% of the cost and very lightweight —- to clarify i only use an iphone 6 so i didn’t imagine it was a phone issue — but when i brought it to the Laptop repair shop — they say nothing wrong and i realise that’s funny—- i really thot it was a Windows upgrade that was causing it but—— i couldn’t get the IP and Gateway from my network provider.. they said they don’t have the info so i couldn’t do anything like manually enter info .... just sharing ... have a good day
