iOS 17.2.1 kills CarPlay

Meanwhile, thanks to another Audi E-tron GT user, I received a solution:

1) Reset the Car's MMI. (hold down the MMI button on the center console until restart)

2) Select CarPlay connection on the Audi MMI. Reconnect iPhone with the Car's WiFi, which Apple with the update to iOS 17.2.1 disconnected.

3) Set WiFi Preferences on iPhone as before. Unfortunately, it seems that Apple with the Update changes the settings.

4) This is not the first time that after an Apple Update the presets are completely wrong.

5) I hope my Audi keeps the iPhone automatically connected to Carplay when starting the car.

6) The Audi eTron GT is simply awesome on the road and full-electric!

Still the same for me with a Skoda Octavia 2023 and now updater to 17.3.1. Will only work on CarPlay on wired connection. If connected on BT when charge cable is connected the music or podcast stops. Tried to delete the car from the phone and reconnect on Bluetooth but that didn’t work. Reconnected using wired only, not wireless, and that has allowed charging while listening to podcasts and music on CarPlay.

I have the same problem with my Audi e-Tron GT MY 2023. Wireless CarPlay always worked perfectly, until I got the insane Idea to update my iPhone 11 Pro to iOS 17.2.1.

This Update is creating Issues also to other Connected Items, such as Withings Devices….

Hello, yes I have the same problem with a BMW X5 (12/2023) LCI 2024 with ID 8.5. The iPhone15 only connects to the car intermittently, the error message “no connection via WiFi possible” appears, and when the iPhone finally connects after resetting the network settings and resetting the vehicle entertainment, the volume of the music goes down after a short time transmission is more than 50% quieter, the same when using the telephone. But the best thing is Siri, if you try to respond to an iMassage, the iPhone disconnects all connections to the car and reactivates them after about 10 seconds, and you can repeat this endlessly, so no messages via Siri and not the reading function possible. I'm desperate, but Apple Support only tries the standard attempts, reset, network reset, completely reinstalling the iPhone from icloud, etc. The sad thing is that the focus is always on new functions in updates, but no solutions that have been available since iOS 17 available.

I got information from BMW and Apple that it works exactly until the next phone call, or if you get an iMassage message and want to respond with Siri, then there is a flash and everything is back to normal. And if you're unlucky, the car no longer accepts the WiFi connection and Apple CarPlay no longer works until the total reset.

I’m having the same issue with 17.2.1. I’ve tested with other iOS devices NOT running 17.2.1 and they all work with CarPlay just fine.

tried the recommended steps to fix, still not working.

Tried everything, get the message that the phone isn’t compatible. 13ProMax on 17.2.1

I'm having the same with iPhone 15 Pro 17.2.1 on my 2024 Audi A4. The Wireless/Wired CarPlay was working well before upgrading to 17.2.1.

My phone also not connecting. Car is saying bluetooth connection is incompatible. Given the only change is the iOS update and that car is less than 3 months old…well apple do you have anything more useful than a basic reconnect to suggest because it is not working.

Not only CarPlay but also having issues with AirPlay and Airdrop.

I’m not able to stream wirelessly anymore to my tv or for example continue to read a page on my iPad using airdrop.

I’m having the same issue in my 2024 VW atlas. Maps have me all over the place (even using Waze or google map) and I cant always use my pandora if my cord is plugged in. My husband works for VW corporate so he’s looking into it. In the meantime I’m super annoyed!

2021 Mazda CX-5. CarPlay worked fine, updated iOS 17.2.1 w/15 Max Pro, now SiriusXm, Spotify, maps (Google, Apple, Waze) constantly show “?” And the screen freezes. I have to unplug and start over. I drive 30 miles to work, this easily happens 3-4 times per trip. I’ve replaced USB C cords multiple times, used wireless (ottocast). Nothing works. If I run both music apps using Bluetooth only, no problem.

How has Apple not fixed this yet? After the update my 2023 Toyota CarPlay has my location on maps all over the place. Including me facing the wrong way, or in a different location.

Lesson learned. Never updating my phone ever again. Fantastic job Apple! You’re the best!

This only helps for a short time, before long you'll have the same problem again and again, and you can always restart the MMI, believe me, that doesn't help to solve the problem permanently. Apple is the biggest company in the world and keeps dragging a problem from one iOs to the next, as Steve Jobs said, don't worry about problems, invent something new and customers will forget the old one, which of course isn't true
