You cannot downgrade iOS safely. There are ways to do so using unauthorized software but use at your own risk.

Are you wearing an Apple Watch when you are looking for these alerts?

If not then attempt to reset all settings General -> Transfer Reset -> Reset All Settings

If that doesn't solve the issue perform a hard reset (Tap Volume up Button Tap Volume down button then hold the power button until device goes dark

I will never buy an Apple product again.

iPhone 15 Plus here, right after installing the IOS update 17.2.1 my hotspot stopped working immediately. Apple asked me to return the phone for service / repair and then replaced the handset like for like and the replacement handset had exactly the same hotspot issue!

Spent hours on the phone through Christmas with Apple technical support and my mobile carrier too just to isolate whether the problem was hardware, software or carrier/SIM related and am now considering returning the phone for a refund.

I need the Hotspot functionality for my job and now I'm having to carry a second Android phone with me to work.

Yesterday to test my theory on the IOS update being the problem I borrowed my father's iPhone 12 Pro Max which was still running IOS 17.1.2 - hotspot functionality absolutely fine. I installed the recent 17.2.1 update and it immediately rendered the hotspot useless.

How can they blatantly ruin so many people's phones like this?

My issue is with hotspot not allowing my Galaxy Watch 4 connect to it. Before iOS 17.2, there were no issues. Watch shows "IP configuration failure" when I try to connect to iPhone's hotspot. Apple stopped signing 17.1.2 firmware the same day when I was trying to go back. :( This is on my iPhone 12 Mini. I reset the device twice and set it up "as new" phone, nothing helped. It is interesting that other devices such as Pixel 8 and Galaxy S23 are able to connect to my iPhone 12 mini but not my watch.

See the long post I put up today with my story. Apple couldn't come up with a fix, so after several weeks of no phone, many hours of diagnostics with Apple, and some back and forth trying to blame my phone (even though earlier diagnostics said the phone was OK), they gave me a new phone (12 Pro). I had previously tried several new esims from T-Mobile which worked for a while, but all ended up not connecting after a few hours up to a couple of days. Nobody was able to explain what the problem was, or how the update caused it, why wiping the phone clean didn't fix it, or why getting a new phone did. Good luck finding someone at Apple Technical Support or Customer Support who can help you. Going to an Apple Store was a waste of time for me - they wanted me to pay for a repair or new phone.

Hi Guys,

If the "no sim" problem started just after IOS 17.2.1 installed it is probably a hidden error during installation. To solve it you have to enter your iPhone into SAFE MODE and then connect to a MacBook or PC with ITUNES installed. Then automatically download and install the newest (i did 17.2.1 again) IOS. Then restart and voila !

Funny, I was having freezing problems Apple support pointed out that I had not updated to 14.2.1 and that update fixed a lot of these issues. I updated and now I am having problems with my phone saying it can’t connect to the internet. I doesn’t matter if it’s on 5g or WiFi. When I called Apple support I told him when researching this topic a lot of people were having this problem, the agent told me “this was the first he has heard of this problem” OMG! That I need to reset my network settings and if it’s not that “it must be my carrier”🤦🏻‍♀️ it’s not my carrier! I wish Apple would just take responsibility. But the problem is intermittent so I am never able to duplicate it when they ask me to. 😭
