Solved my problem after 8 hours of troubleshooting! After the 17.2.1 update, my iPhone 14 Pro Max would not send or receive calls and got hot from accelerated battery drain. First AppleCare walked me through hardware diagnostics, network resets, backups and restores but the problem persisted. Next, Verizon helped me with a new eSIM, but the problem continued. Next, I focused on my company's corporate software, because I was intrigued by the VPN discussion in this forum. While I don't use a VPN, my iPhone is managed by my company's installation of Microsoft InTune, which I noticed (Settings:General:VPN & Device Mgmt) had a signing certificate (IOSProfileSigning.manage.microsoft.us) that had expired December 12, 2023. To test this theory, I removed this Management software and my phone's cellular calls worked perfectly again! So for the final steps, I worked with my company's IT department to reinstall the Management software, which has an updated IOS signing certificate, and the phone is now back to normal. Sharing in case others find my painful tech journey useful.

Cricket is your carrier, and is unrelated to Wi-Fi. Here is general information on Wi-Fi troubleshooting→If your iPhone won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network

The key things to check:

  • Restart your router by removing all power from it for 15-30 seconds
  • If you use VPN, delete your VPN profile and app
  • Tap on the i next to the network name and Forget the network, then try reconnecting
  • Open Settings
    • Tap General
    • Tap Transfer or Reset Phone
    • Tap  Reset
    • Tap Reset Network Settings
    • This will erase all Wi-Fi passwords, but will not result in any other data loss.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro it was working great till I did this updated now I have no WiFi no Bluetooth and now battery drains so fast. I spoke to customer service yesterday and they basically told me it’s my fault I will have to replace my phone out of pocket to have it fixed. The IOS 17.2.1 detects bad parts in the phone and it’s for security purposes. I told them how is it my fault when Apple basically planted a bug in my phone to force me to upgrade. It will cost me $748.00 just to replace the WiFi and Bluetooth chip inside my phone through Apple. So here I am without a working phone. They need to fix this issue.

Finally after hours of reseting my iPhone 12 Pro, I got hotspot working. Here's what I did, I have 2 Mac mini's I had to go into network setting on my Mac mini's goto your wifi connection then go to advanced under advanced where it says Network Name select iPhone then I went to TCP/IP and pressed Renew DHCP Lease. That's it, I did that in both my Mac's and my Hotspot is back up and running. I don't have any of the other issue others are saying. I also turn on my VPN on my Mac's and it still works.

This mirrors my experience as well. T-Mobile's call-in customer support had no explanation or solution to-date.

At this point the phone has been reset/erased all content/removed from iCloud and reactivated as a new phone with everything at default and no third party apps installed. New SIM card was installed. None of that resolved the issue with personal hotspot, which had been working fine for a couple of years.

have had same problem for over two weeks - no connection to cellular network. I am on T- Mobile. Have had several calls with Apple, no help except they spent a couple hours collecting diagnostics. T- Mobile has installed several eSims that work for a little while, then stop. This update has disrupted thousands of us during the holidays, with no public acknowledgment by Apple, no help, and no end in sight. A disaster for the Apple brand.

See the long post I put up today with my story. Apple couldn't come up with a fix, so after several weeks of no phone, many hours of diagnostics with Apple, and some back and forth trying to blame my phone (even though earlier diagnostics said the phone was OK), they gave me a new phone (12 Pro). I had previously tried several new esims from T-Mobile which worked for a while, but all ended up not connecting after a few hours up to a couple of days. Nobody was able to explain what the problem was, or how the update caused it, why wiping the phone clean didn't fix it, or why getting a new phone did. Good luck finding someone at Apple Technical Support or Customer Support who can help you. Going to an Apple Store was a waste of time for me - they wanted me to pay for a repair or new phone.

Funny, I was having freezing problems Apple support pointed out that I had not updated to 14.2.1 and that update fixed a lot of these issues. I updated and now I am having problems with my phone saying it can’t connect to the internet. I doesn’t matter if it’s on 5g or WiFi. When I called Apple support I told him when researching this topic a lot of people were having this problem, the agent told me “this was the first he has heard of this problem” OMG! That I need to reset my network settings and if it’s not that “it must be my carrier”🤦🏻‍♀️ it’s not my carrier! I wish Apple would just take responsibility. But the problem is intermittent so I am never able to duplicate it when they ask me to. 😭

Appel should have a way to go back to a previous iOS, I couldn't go back and I can't find an easy way to do it, it's frustrating since I lost some apps with my PC that they don't detect now and I need them to work. I want to go back to the previous version but I don't know how from my cell phone or in an easy way to restore a version 16.

You can’t go back, because previous versions have vulnerabilities that were fixed in the update. But you CAN fix whatever problems you have after the update with a little troubleshooting. Keep in mind that hundreds of millions of users do not have problems, so if you do it is unlikely that it was caused by the update.

I literally had to go to AT&T to update to a newer phone, due to this situation! WAS NOT able to connect to my carrier, regardless of eSIM OR reset settings! It would work for 45 mins and back to no service! If I did not have a sick Parent, I would have stayed for the update bug fix! Someone should do something QUICKLY! Ppl are losing patience and money, with this issue! @apple! FIX IT
