Stuck setting up new iPad for child.

I went through the steps of setting up a new iPad Pro for my child, including creating them a new Apple ID. I have reached the part when I am trying to set up parental controls, and it is asking me to create a Screen Time Passcode. I enter the new code, then it asks me to re-enter the code. I re-enter the code, and it just sits there indefinitely. There is no error messages. It’s not hung, as I can press the back button, but it will not progress past this point. Just has all four digits filled in and is stuck.

I'm having the same issues except it's got stuck on the "What content can <child's name> access?" screen. I press "Update Restrictions" and nothing happens - it won't progress. Very frustrating - imagine buying a brand new iPad 10th Gen for Apple prices and you've turned it on for the first time to set up for your 9 year old kid and you can't even get through the initial setup flows... Terrible UX.

had to hard reset to get past this. quickly press volume up and volume down then hold power button down until the pad restarts. this will do the setup again but skip the Screen Time section. After that you will want to make sure everything is updated to latest iOS version before doing anything else. Things should be fine after that.

I just bought the new iPad Air and I got up to the "continue setup on your other iPad" but the other iPad just loading something up with the loading circle spinning

If the transfer/setup process has stalled, you may need to restart both iPads:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

Try updating to the latest software version. If that doesn’t work, try to force restart your iPad

Force restart iPad

If iPad isn’t responding, do one of the following:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
