iTunes email: Problem with Payment Information

I just got an email titled "There is a problem with your payment information". I can't see anything wrong but my extra iCloud storage will be deleted if I don't correct this unknown problem within about one week. Where can I get help to sort this out? Nothing has changed.

Thanks.

I followed up with Apple Support. It is a sophisticated phishing attempt. @itunes.com looks legit but it isn’t. Anything from Apple has @apple.com in the email address. If you clicked on any of the links I would change your Apple ID password and make sure you have two-factor authentication working. This is probably the most realistic phishing attempt I have seen to date.

I received that email and promptly came to the forums to see what people were saying. After reading all of the comments here I did nothing and when I checked for January, my Apple payment went through fine, so I agree that it was a phishing email. I received the same type of email from Amazon in the last few days. I looked at what address it was coming from and was pretty sure that was a phishing attempt as well so I promptly deleted it. Now I guess we have to be where of getting these emails from anybody who has our credit card information any streaming services you use any subscription services you have because if you haven’t changed your card information, there is no reason for them to be sending you that email. Thanks everyone!

Today is March 3, 2024 and I just received a similar email (at the bottom of this thread). After reading messages on this thread I'm still quite not sure if this is a bug or a phishing email, but I'm assuming if this is a bug it should have been fixed by now, since it's been over 2 months since other users reported the same issue.

Thank you, Brian2024 for confirming this info with Apple Support. I got the same email “There is a problem with your payment information” and thought the message looked suspicious, a usual sign of a phishing email. I checked on my own, and discovered the email address “iTunes Store” was not legit and now after reading your message and other discussions, I’ll be blocking and reporting this email.

I’m confused because there are several problems with the email (address, storage amount inconsistent with Apple offers, incorrect instructions for follow up), but when I hover over the links, they all lead back to Apple. There is nothing malicious in the links in the note.

So, is it just poor execution by Apple or poor execution by a Phisher?

It all makes no sense.

I think they have a bug in system. My CC data hasnt changed in over a year, but when I log in and go to payment & shipping it’s now saying I need to update expiration date & says security code is invalid. I too got email saying I’ll lose 200GB storage if I don’t update info, and they knew my billing cycle for iCloud storage. Data in there should be secure but nervous about updating it again when it should still be accurate.

I received the same email. It seemed legit, and the links within it were all legit Apple links. I figured it was a glitch, and today the referenced automatic payment went through without an issue. What really bugged me is that the email gave no hint as to what the "problem" was, and there was no way for me to fix it despite the instructions. And no other information, such as, who to contact if you had a question about it. Bad Apple. Bad Apple.

I have been getting lots of emails saying my apple payment is not correct, error and correct it. When I try to it won't accept the form of payment of the same credit card always used. Not only that, my TV apps, also say my payment it not connected, must update. But in my wallet it shows perfect all my info. this must be a scam. never seen this before. I did update my phone and computer, and still has not cleared. I just saw today a new update in which I am doing it now, hopefully all will go away.
