Family sharing - Wrong country/region on invite

Trying to set up Family sharing with my adult son. Family sharing is already set up, and working, with my wife. When I send him the invitation he gets an error

He lives less than an hour away in the same state.

Any assistance greatly and gratefully appreciated.

Purchase sharing is on. I have tried an invite to his phone number and in an email to his Apple ID. No joy.

TIA,

Great you found a solution that works for you but that doesn’t help us because the invitee is a child account. That account cannot be the organizer. Apple is dropping the ball on this big time. They are aware of this issue and not providing a solution or software fix is unacceptable on an 800 dollar device.

Sure that’s an option I suppose but we are paying Apple a monthly fee to share iCloud storage and they have a bug in the system and are not providing any solutions. So disappointing.

Same issue on my iPhone 15 Pro. What worked for me, as mentioned by others in this thread, was to accept the invite from another Apple Device (in my case a MacBook Pro). The error never showed up on my Mac, took a couple seconds for my phone to figure out what was up and everything works flawlessly now. Weird that Apple doesn't have an official solution for this.

This issue was happening to me on my iPhone 15 Pro. I was trying to switch from my dad's family plan to a new plan through an invite link texted to me by my sister but kept getting this wrong country error message (even though I checked and we are both set to USA). I found a solution which was use my laptop iMessage to copy the link that my sister texted me on my laptop and paste it into a browser on my laptop. I could immediately sign in to join her plan! FYI, if you are switching from one family plan to another, you need to leave the current one first before trying to join the new one, it won't do it for you.

I was having the same issue but figured it out.

The only way for Apple to know if you are in the same family is the address.

So, I added a second credit card with my address, and I asked my husband to do the same. Make sure the addresses are identical.

I removed the credit card I had(You can go back to it once the sharing works)

Then -> very important, you need to 'remove' the invite you previously sent.

You can click on the name of the person, and click on 'remove invite'

Then, try the option 'invite in person'

If you are trying to add a minor, the request will be sent to the parent,

if you are an adult, accept the invite. The error will be gone.

Now you can go back to your credit card and update it to the one you originally had.

Would not work with his iPhone 13. Worked with his 5th gen iPad.

Added my d-i-l and she has an iPhone 13 and it immediately connected.

Apple has a tech bulletin out about this same problem occurring. Their work around was to sign out of United States, sign in to the UK, then sign back out and then back in to the US. With all the trauma that would cause with having to cancel any already open subscriptions. Glad we found a way.

Thanks for your help and your efforts.

I had all the same problems but have solved them.

Originally, I set up family sharing on MY iphone and sent an invitation to my wife's iphone, but her phone kept saying "wrong country/region." The workaround for me was to, instead, set up family sharing on HER phone first (the one that wouldn't accept my invitation/was giving the wrong country msg) and have her iphone invite my iphone. I accepted her invitation. Once we did that, sharing worked fine.

Just wanted to post that I did what one individual stated after trying other multiple attempts - and I did NOT want to delete any subscriptions or change to another country - I simply STOPPED Family Sharing - restarted Family Sharing - sent out invites - and all went as planned - no error messages stating "Country/Region Did Not Match". It worked flawlessly and effortlessly!

Dunno if you would call it a solution but my son accepted the invite from another Apple device (in our case an iPad) and it started working. His wife accepted the invite from her iPhone with no issues what so ever.

In any event, everything started working on all devices. Took a minute but all the bits and bobs finally connected.

Apple tried to help but we weren’t successful with their work arounds.

Change to UK then back to US. 😳

Good luck.
