After update, Apple Pay says my card is expiring, but it is not
Why did the new update make Apple think my Apple Pay acct think my card is expired ? It won’t expire for two years, and now I can’t use Apple Pay for anything.
iPhone 7, iOS 14

The problem is Apple Pay/Wallet lost the last 2-digits of our expiration dates. It’s only reading the “20xx” and lost the last 2-digits.
Unfortunately this iOS will not let you edit the card info, EVEN if your card number has not changed (like if you got the new one in mail with simply a new exp date!!!).
SOOOOO, you have to DELETE the card then add it back in using the “MM/YYYY” format and it then works!
Mine is doing the same thing. I can’t download any apps or many any in-app purchases because it says my card is going to expire. It doesn’t expire for a while. Very frustrating because I can’t remove the card to try and add it back in from my phone because of my active Apple Music subscription.
Came here to say the same thing. I noticed that ever since I updated to 17.2.1 I’ve been getting “payment problem” emails from Apple regarding my recurring subscriptions but they go through just fine.
I'm trying to make a movie purchase and it keeps telling me my card is about to expire when it doesn’t expire for another 2 years.
Updating the info does nothing.
Iam trying to rent a movie on Apple TV and it tells me my card is about to expire which is incorrect . I deleted that card anyway and added a new card ..it still tells me that the card is about to expire.
any ideas on how to fix this ?
I’m having the same problem, I tried deleting the card and adding it back on, also updating my phone and nothing it still saying it’s about to expire when my card doesn’t expire until 2025, very very frustrating I have subscriptions. Is this going to affect my subscriptions? This just happened like 3 days ago.
Happy NYE! Spending mine trying to figure out how to get my Apple Pay to work. Just like all of you, Apple Pay says my card is expired. I tried adding a different card to remove my current one and re-add it, phone says new card is also expired so I can’t add it. Therefore, I don’t have a solution. Please let me know if anyone else finds one. Count your days, Apple!
Same, ONLY my subscriptions seem to be affected, other payments are working. Not a bank issue - seems to be an Apple issue.
Was put through to call centre in China, which was problematic because we don’t speak each other’s language.
Mine did this as soon as 2024 hit. Says all my cards are expired but they don’t for 3+ years. So annoying I have security camera subscriptions that are paid with Apple Pay and now none of my cameras will record because they are not paid for the month.
I had two reps remote into my phone and neither could fix it. The next step to resolving no side button after fixing the expired card message was going to be connecting to a laptop and wiping previous software versions from the phone. My wife was on my shared plan and was having to get a code from me to buy songs. She got frustrated and left. At that point my doubly click to buy songs and apps returned to normal. So apparently our accounts being linked was keeping something on my phone from resetting.
I have the same issue, it let me update the date but now it won't link to my Apple Pay. It just keeps saying "unable to link card", anyone have luck getting that fixed? I tried removing my card and re-adding, but it won't let me remove as it needs one for my active subscriptions.
I've tried all of this, added another card, removed my old card. It lets me add the card back, but when I try to link it to apple pay it again tells me it's expired. It also tells me then that the security code isn't valid, which is also not true. I don't have another card that I can link to apple pay so not sure what to do.
Same thing happened starting yesterday too…. anyone figure anything out yet?
That’s weird. Even more frustrating since we both did the same thing and it only worked for me.
I’m getting the exact same thing. I used it earlier in the day with no problem now it says my card is going to expire.
I haven’t updated my phone to 17.2.1 and I’m having the same issue
