CarPlay GPS location incorrect in 2021 Audi Q5

When driving and connected to CarPlay, the GPS location will sometimes show us driving not on the highway but 1/2 mile or a 1/4 of a mile off of our actual location. So, it will appear we are driving through corn fields or side streets when we are on highways. If I disconnect CarPlay Apple Maps and Google Maps work correctly. We reported this to Audi, they ignored it, then we later got a software update for our Audi which addressed it. Now, as of December, it’s back again and I am not sure what changed. It’s a safety hazard if you are on a roadtrip and using it to navigate. #carplay #audi

Here are some steps you could try to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. If you have used wireless CarPlay with your Audi Q5 try connecting using a wired connection.
  2. Ensure your iPhone, CarPlay, and Audi's infotainment system have the latest software updates installed. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in newer versions.
  3. Unpair and repair your iPhone with CarPlay. Remove the connection and set it up again to see if this resolves the issue.
  4. Faulty or incompatible cables can cause problems. Ensure you're using a certified Apple cable and check the ports for any debris that might affect the connection.
  5. If the problem persists, try resetting your Audi's infotainment system to its factory settings. This can sometimes help clear up any software glitches.
  6. Since this issue seems to be recurring after a software update, it's important to inform Audi again. Provide them with specific details, such as when it started happening again, what changes you've noticed, and any patterns associated with the problem.
  7. Until the issue is resolved, you might consider using the native GPS in your car or relying on your phone's maps without connecting to CarPlay for navigation during road trips.

Given that this issue seems to have been temporarily fixed with a software update in the past, it's possible that another update could address it again. However, until that happens, these steps might help mitigate the problem or temporarily provide a workaround.
