We’re you using an authenticator app or receiving the codes via text?

If app then you may be able to recover the entries if the app had been set to back up to iCloud. If via text then you’ll need to use one of your recovery codes to sign in & change the recovery information.

I just had the issue on my phone only and went into my google security settings, devices, and logged out of the old one. You would think that would automatically happen when you transfer data and erase the other device.

I have had the same issue since I transferred my data to my new iPhone 15 plus 5 months ago. I found the only way to access security settings so I could turn off the 2-step verification in Gmail causing the problem was open Gmail, then click on google account icon in top right hand corner of screen(can be a picture or the first letter of your first name). Then I clicked on ‘manage my google account ‘ then in the left hand column selected ‘security’ then I selected ‘2 step verification’ I inserted my password as requested. Then finally I came to ‘turn off 2-step Verification’ Whew!

So if you do not have another device, get onto your desktop and go into manage profile then security and then devices..... sign out all your phones then log back into chrome. It will then let you send the text to the phone. I am still waiting for Gmail to download to see if uninstalling it fixes the problem, but being tough to log in is a good problem to have in this day and age.

edit/update After unistalling and then reinstalling Gmail it worked. I did the above steps and then it worked is the totality of the statement i am making

I had the same issue with my wife's new iPhone. Fortunately, she was logged into gmail on her laptop. I went into her google account settings and linked it to my phone number. Then I was able to disable 2 Factor Auth because I got the code on my own iPhone.

Go to the Google Security Settings.

Scroll Down to 2-Step Verification Tab

click that, if it’s on turn it off. This will allow you to login to your Gmail with new iPhone and this time it will not ask you for verification code. This is a temporary solution to access Gmail if you have an issue with new iPhone. Please turn back on 2 step Verification steps after you able to access Gmail. I am sure you want to keep email secure.

try disabling the old device in the settings, or try getting to your email via your phone number

Thank you laila2729!! Your suggestion worked, I was actually signed into a couple of old phones and when I signed out of them I was able to sign into Gmail on my new iphone and authenticate.

Contact gmail support.

Go to Google security settings by logging in to your Google account in a web browser. From there you can enable other verification methods, such as the Google Authenticator app, which you can install on your phone and activate.

Still not working. 2 factor authentication has me in a loop. When I try to log into google on computer it says to get code from phone. When I try to log into google on the phone it also says to get a code from my phone. I'm stuck in a loop where I cannot get the authentication code to log into google. The war between apple/microsoft and google is just getting very very annoying.

I'm having a similar issue. I recently switched carriers and upgraded my phone to the 15 pro. My gmail is working but When I open the Google app to sign in, the verification method is not giving me the option to text my phone. It sends a number code to my Google app which is the app im already in. When I tried from my MacBook the code isn't on my Google app on my phone because I'm not signed in. So I'm in the frustrating circle. I've deleted the app restarted my phone downloaded the app again. My old phone is signed out of erased and set to factory settings. I'm stumped.

It lets me use passkey to add the email to my iPhone email but can’t do it in browser.

i just want TEXT but it won’t as this YT option overrides. I can’t update setting as I’m not in the account at all

This was NEVER an issue for years then lost my phone. It was FINE w one of my gmails but not second one.

also it’s irritating as I’m in a situation with no other devices- no old phones or Laptop.?

It is like being locked out of one's apartment. You can get in if you go into your apartment to fetch the key. However, you can't get in because you don't have the key, so you need to get into your apartment to get the key. Crazy. Trying "another way" doesn't work either. I wasted 2 hours trying over and over to solve this puzzle.
