Why is my iPod Classic not syncing with iTunes?

my "classic" 160gb is acting up and won't synch properly...

a bit old school yes, however, that is what I do

I have 2 iPod classics, 1 out in the shop and the newer unit, for use w/ the home system...

when I add new content to iTunes; album purchase, CD I download,...still do that too...

I bring both units to the Mac and synch em up...

2 weeks ago..new album, from I tunes store..did the synch, old unit fine, but the newer unit..

missed portions of a song...now, I just added a new CD, old Pod, again fine...

the new 160gb unit...not getting it done,,,checked all the connections..re-started...all of it,

the iPod is acting up, in a way I can not accurately explain more than I have...

I did notice the "green bolt" which shows on the "synch page" does not show, though the computer and iPod both tell me "connected"

before I Completely "re-store" the unit...

hoping someone can give me a less invasive step(s) to try ?!?

thanx

actually, I don't know that I desire the "current version" of I tunes...

thought, in my reading, I found indications that "older" versions are still available? ..

contacts / video etc ..None of that pertains to me...it is music, that's all ...

my iTunes Store purchases are also on the ext HD,

does that present any issue, when copying them to the new computer/iTunes ?

and

copied from my Mac...putting them in a new library Windows... does that create a problem ?

the more I read, of your suggestions, etc..... the more I realize I know very little ! yikes ...

tt2

will sk again...given all I've stated, the laptop is on the way and iTunes will get loaded on that

however, even though I see "versions" from various posts ..still asking

which version, would likely be as troublesome free as can be ..

for windows 11

again...do Not need anything other than synching the iPods..2 classics 2 nanos

thanx

hi ...thanx

so likely, as you were sending this, I was setting up the new laptop...

I did get a variety of choices when checking the "windows store" ...but, could not see any specific builds

so, I just downloaded the one there ..it said "2018" and looked similar to some I recall from a few years back...when still w/ windows,

I had stopped "updating" as I found new stuff to be more confusing and less "friendly" for me

of course I likely eliminate "fixes" but figured , as I still do...My needs are so much more basic than the usual

so... I'll guess there will be some questions further down the road ...got late and once I got it installed shut down so will look closer in the AM ... and see the actual build then ...

right now, I know a good deal of my music is already there...so, will synch (slowly) the "classic" and see what happens ...as usual

THANX !

tt2 (specifically)

I suppose I need to accept that there are problems w/ the iPod classic that are too far gone.

Got iTunes, on the new laptop..it showed all my music...from Apple... so figured ...I'll synch that, and slowly add, to the library my music from the ext HD...

connected the classic, windows tells me it is "corrupt" allows me to re-format...

so I get get to where it seems to indicate I can synch my library ...but,

"apply" does nothing only allowing me to click on "done" and the result being No Music on the device...

tried, re-tried it all.... went back to the "super-fix" and though it was written for older versions of windows...enough of the same "stuff" seemed to show I could restore it...so did all that

plugged back in to iTunes = Nothing ....

part of that article indicated " let it sit 24hours " try again .... I will go that way, but have my doubts...

will try, later... and see what happens w/ synching 1 of the Nanos...

ugggh

the Nano, behaved similarly when plugged in...re-formatted for windows and the screens appeared as though they were cooperating...but 0 music ...No Music !

shows all the music available , in iTunes, then allows me to synch... I clik on done and

"no music"

is the outcome ... same as w/ the classic ????

sort of feels as though there is this intermediate step ( I never did before) that need be done in the window related to D drive, but, obviously eluding me at this juncture ....

Double UgggHHH !
