I update my iPhone 12 to iOS 17.3 yesterday and since then I have the problem that I can’t connect with my laptop to my personal hotspot. I haven’t had any problems earlier.

Hi. I also encountered this issue while switching from iPhone 12 to 13. The cellular voice on ip12 shows 4G with the personal hotspot visible and working.
using the same sim card on iphone 13 it shows data voice as LTE. The personal hotspot wasn’t showing because the in the mobile data network settings the following details were not included.
please add the carrier name as the apn in the mobile data and personal hotspot
Navigation: Settings > Mobile Data/Cellular > Mobile/Cellular Data Network, if you are using single sim data
if dual sims are used then select the sim first and open the Mobile Data Network.

I called Apple care. They refused to help me with this issue saying it was a carrier issue. I spent 2 hours with T mobile engineers and we determined that the phone no longer gives a dhcp address in hotspot mode. Apple care insistent that the hotspot doesn’t work that way.
the told me to call me carrier.
i put my SIM card in an android phone running version 10, and voila I got hotspot capability.
so it is not the carrier. Apple no longer has the capability to solve problems with their own devices.
Started working again after restarting my phone.
It is not coincidental. Please read the postings. 17.2 responds to dhcp requests. 17.3 does not. This is broken functionality that is either intentional or accidental. If it is intentional and requires a config change, Apple care should know about it. They don’t. I spoke to a specialist who doesn’t have a clue how the hotspot software works.

Today I fixed this issue with a work around: put in the ip manual, so no dhcp! Issue seems the subnet mask 255.255.255.240 so I had to put in /28 for the subnet mask
Yes, I have noticed the same issue and confirm that it appears to be iOS related.
I used mobile hotspot on an iPhone 15 (17.2.1) and was able to share the hotspot and connect to a Windows PC. I then used an iPhone SE 3rd Gen (17.3) and was not able to successfully share/connect using mobile hotspot. Tried with another iPhone SE 3rd Gen (17.3), same issue.
I’m facing the same issue. Since updated to iOS 17.3 the hotspot stopped to work for my company MacBook and other Windows and Android devices. Apple Care spent hours to figure out the issue. Renaming, restart, toggle settings, reset network settings. After that windows and Android devices are working again but the Mac still does not receive an ip address. Now I’m stuck in ping-pong with Apple and my company. Since everything is working fine on iOS 17.2 it’s definitely an issue with Apple IMO. No support, very frustrating.
Bought an iPhone 14 in Oct 2023, I've been facing this Hotspot issues since the day 1 itself. But sometimes it does connect but the way is kinda frustrating. I have to turn on both Bluetooth and Wifi for this and if my iPhone doesn't show in the available devices list I have to keep toggling on and off the "Maximize Compatibility" switch. Please fix this Apple.
Contacting your carrier service might help
I have had the same problem since iOS 17.3 now my android device won’t hotspot of my phone but the iPad and other iOS devices are ok. Seems the latest iOS has caused issues with hotspotting non iOS devices
I have had the same problem since iOS 17.3 now my android device won’t hotspot of my phone but the iPad and other iOS devices are ok. Seems the latest iOS has caused issues with hotspotting on android devise specially Carlinkit
On the android system I adjusted the connection settings. Default it is on dhcp. I switched it to static and entered the gateway 172.20.10.1, subnet mask 28
dns 172.20.10.1 and ip 172.20.10.4
iOS updates generally aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. Hotspot issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.
This seems purely coincidental so please check the Setting on your device.

It’s not coincidence as both my wife’s and daughters phone that have not been updated still work perfectly. My settings are fine and have now tried hotspotting of my iPad on the latest iOS and has the same issue when trying to connect an android device to it
Same for me, since updating to IOS 17.3 my Mac M1 14.3 can't connect to the hotspot, it doesn't get an IP address. Same Mac to an old iPhone 7 is working fine. Tried rebooting MacOS and a hard reset on the IOS 17.3 device. HELP!
