iPad Pro Magic Keyboard trackpad cursor disappearing or freezing when closing apps after update to iOS 17.2.3, still present in iOS 17.3

After updating iPad OS to 17.2.3, Magic Keyboard cursor disappears after extended use of any app when closing out apps. Generally will freeze wherever you put the cursor but the trackpad still works. Usually takes a few minutes or so and frantic swiping around on trackpad to have the cursor return.

I have followed all guidelines regarding similar cursor issues in the past, and it is abundantly clear this is an iPad OS bug. I am an engineer and have troubleshot all the basic things I can without needing to be told basic entry level troubleshooting again in the response here in this forum. And no this isn’t a need to go to the Apple Store for a Genius to look at. This is basic entry level OS bug that is present for others, not just in my device.

Please update this bug in the next iPad OS as this is a major bug that is costing productivity.

Utterly dreadful that we are all paying through the nose for these devices isn’t it? Will they bite the bullet and compensate since this issue will clearly never be resolved? They’ve done a great job keeping this under wraps, so you only discover this when you splash out on the device 👏🏼

I too continue to have the same cursor problem after the IPadOS 17.4 update. Every single time I use my IPadPro - It freezes at least once.

On February 28, 2024 I sent a Report Request (the circle with ‘!’) that appears to the right of every post…asking for a response to our questions.

I sent the same Report Request under ‘Mouse cursor on iPad disappears using Magic Keyboard on latest Sonoma (17.0.3) 6 October 2023’ (same issues). To avoid duplication of effort I cross-referenced it with this string.

Still no response. What gives?

Yes this whole scenario isn’t just related to only the Magic Keyboard case. Any Bluetooth mouse has this issue, including Apples own Magic Trackpad. iPadOS clearly was never designed to have a cursor as these issues still remaining years after they added mouse compatibility. It’s frustrating and I would love a response, all I can hope is this thread shows others that they aren’t crazy and that any Bluetooth or Apple’s official Magic Keyboard case or Magic Trackpad don’t even work after extended use, only when closing apps. Seems to be related to the cursor animations getting locked up. Hopefully some day Apple will actually tackle this issue

I have also been having same issue. Been happening for months and it’s very frustrating. I’ve messaged with tech support and they claim there is no known bug and that I’d have to bring it in to the Genius Bar to have them take a look at it. Just can’t be troubled with doing that any time soon.

I too am experiencing the issue described by @Highsinberg. Exact same symptoms and it is not random, in my case I’ve noticed it when closing the Google Chrome app. It’s with a iPad Pro 11" 2nd generation updated a couple of days ago to iOS 17.6.1 and I use Apple’s Magic Keyboard. As others in this thread have written, I do not wish to go to the Genius Bar, previous experiences have unfortunately shown this to be a waste of time. Fingers crossed in the hope that someone at Apple will take noticed and escalate the issue to developers…
