Outlook remove device management

I used to work for Company A. Several months ago I left Company A and removed device management from my iPhone 11.

Now I work for Company B. When I try to log into Outlook on my iPhone, Company A's sign-on screen loads and I cannot remove it. There is no option to change the sign-on screen or remove Company A.

I can make some progress putting my phone in airplane mode:

  1. Airplane mode & wi-fi off
  2. "Add Work Account"
  3. Type in Company B's email address
  4. "Can't Add Account" error, hit ok
  5. Enable wi-fi, hit "Add Work Account"
  6. Enter my password for Company B's password, hit "Sign In"
  7. My email for Company B opens in the background but there is an error pop-up: "Managed Device, Your device is managed by your organization, only a work account can be added."
  8. Hit "Ok", Company B's email inbox disappears, and now I'm back to the login page for Company A.

When I go to settings > general > VPN & Device Management there is a VPN menu that shows "Not Connected". There is no device management information.

Microsoft Support told me to call company A and have them remove management from my devices. I called company A and they do not have any managed devices under my old user name.

There’s no onsite IT for me to bring it to, unfortunately. I called Company A today and their records show that my old user ID doesn’t have any managed devices.

If it was being managed, shouldn’t something show up in settings?

I really don’t want to reset my iPhone but I will as a last resort. Would that fix my problem?

Did you talk to an IT person at said work or just some employee, perhaps they should look at the device management as opposed to your user name.

Only the company that installed the Device Management can remove it.

Perhaps take your phone to said company and have the IT person take a look at it.

Surprise this wasn't removed when you left the company.
