Unable to install watchOS 10.3

After upgrading to iOS 17.3.1 on my iPhone 14 Pro, I haven’t been able to upgrade to watchOS 10.3 on my Apple Watch Ultra 2 (watchOS 10.2). Have had the Ultra 2 on the charger with more than 50% charged. The Watch app on my iPhone 14 Pro just says “preparing” and the status never changes.

Have you tried applying the update directly from the watch?

Quit the Watch app on your iPhone.

With the watch unlocked on your wrist
Open Settings
Tap General
Scroll down to Software Update
Choose to install the update when it's presented
Remove the watch and place it on the charging puck.
