Issues after updating to iOS 17.4.1

Hi Guys. After updating my iphone to the latest 17.4.1, i am facing several issues in the last 4-5 days,

  1. The contact poster of my contacts is not being displayed whenever i am making the call or receiving a call from them. It just shows a black background.
  2. The pedometer in iphone is not working properly. I go for a walk daily in the morning and the same distance before was shown around 4 Kms, now it is showing 2.5 or 3 Kms, and this issue is also consistent. There is something seriously wrong with the steps being counted.
  3. Battery drain has also increased by around 10-15% more than what it used to be. Even if my phone is sitting idle, it loses battery at a much faster rate than what was before.

I don't know if anyone else is facing these issues, but these issues are consistently there for me and are not resolved by restarting the phone (which i did several times).

Is anyone else experiencing disabled personal hotspot after software update? "Personal Hotspot" used to be below the "Cellular" (when its turned on) but now it moved inside "Cellular" in between bunch of apps. And to top all that, when I click it, it just loads FOREVER. I hope they fix this fast

It was always inside Cellular until it was enabled for the first time. Then, it appeared in both places. It sounds like, for whatever reason, that feature may no longer be active on your account. I suggest you contact your carrier and review it with them.

My phone stopped working almost entirely yesterday. I was using it as normal and then all of the sudden my touch screen was no longer working. it still is not working and apple suggested i replace my entire screen even though it seems as though thats not the issue because im still able to see my notifications as they come up.

Two major problems after installing 17.4.1:

-My battery has been draining very fast. I’ve never had this issue before and wish I could uninstall the software update. It’s like suddenly having an old phone.

-Dictation function regularly stops working. The mic icon lights up but the phone doesn’t respond to dictation (for texts, emails, etc.). I need to restart my phone repeatedly to get it to work again. Until it stops working. Rinse and repeat.

I’ve been experiencing the very same and I’m trying to find a solution that doesn’t end with me erasing my phone. What adds insult to injury is the fact that a new iOS update has been released and when I try and install, it just says verifying update then it loads forever and then I have to force reboot the phone. This is one of the many problems this update has given me and is an unbearable one.

The new 17.4 update:

The latest version of iOS is 17.5.1 so you're a bit behind if you really mean iOS 17.4. iOS 17.5.1 was released on 5/20. iOS 17.5 was released on 5/13.

Regardless, what you experienced is highly unusual. I suggest that you back up your phone then restore it to factory conditions using a computer. If you use the computer to restore it, it will get a completely fresh copy of iOS. Test it for a bit if you can. If all works well, restore your back up. If things change between when you restored it and when you added the backup, the problem may be somewhere in your data.

I have been having nightmares since the ios 17.4.1 update. The 17.5.1 patch did nothing to help. Among other problems, the sound stopped working. Calls went directly to voicemail and callers heard absurd messages, despite my mailbox being empty. My contacts are rife with issues, but seemingly randomly. Some lost photos, others all data, some lost ring tones, others text tones. Some contacts were left in tact. My own disappeared completely.

After 4 long calls to Apple Support plus two hours at the Genius Bar, nothing has changed. The most recent call to a Tech Supervisor suggested - wait for it - that it was a radiation glitch in my phone. The only thing this Tech Supervisor would do is give me a postal address to write to Apple.

I have already written on apple.com/feedback, to no avail. Now I will write a letter to Apple Inc, ATTN: Customer Care, One Apple Parkway, Cupertino, CA 95014. I urge everyone to also complain via these options. Finally, I am prepared to go to social media and traditional media to get Apple to take responsibility for the problems it has caused. If enough of us complain, perhaps something will happen.

This last update might be the final straw for me, time to ditch the Apple phone and try something else.

I can not get my phone connected with the apps & devices I have been using for a long time.

I can not send videos in messenger, only pictures.

I have contacts missing.

I have shut down my phone multiple times, has not helped.
