Issues after updating to iOS 17.4.1

Hi Guys. After updating my iphone to the latest 17.4.1, i am facing several issues in the last 4-5 days,

  1. The contact poster of my contacts is not being displayed whenever i am making the call or receiving a call from them. It just shows a black background.
  2. The pedometer in iphone is not working properly. I go for a walk daily in the morning and the same distance before was shown around 4 Kms, now it is showing 2.5 or 3 Kms, and this issue is also consistent. There is something seriously wrong with the steps being counted.
  3. Battery drain has also increased by around 10-15% more than what it used to be. Even if my phone is sitting idle, it loses battery at a much faster rate than what was before.

I don't know if anyone else is facing these issues, but these issues are consistently there for me and are not resolved by restarting the phone (which i did several times).

We'd been abroad last week and initially I thought I was having issues because or changing networks and rang O2 (who said they were sending a new SIM, but are yet to) but now I'm thinking it's the iPhone update, I now can't.

  1. Receive any OTP texts at all (but if I send them to What's app they work)
  2. I'm randomly receiving some texts and not others
  3. I can receive some phone calls, but others say it tells them my phone is out of service
  4. My network disappears when I come off Wifi. I Have to switch my phone off and back on to reconnect

I've tried resetting the network settings etc and nothing has worked!

Hi, updated my 13 Mini to IOS 17.4.1 overnight and lost all connection to my mobile network. Came to these forums to see that I am not alone. Was only able to access internet, social media, and send messages via Wi-Fi.

Here's a possible fix that so far, touch wood, is working for me:

  • Save a back-up of your phone as it currently is, with IOS 17.4.1, even with its bugs.
  • Restore your iPhone to a back-up that pre-dates that IOS update.
  • Let that happen, re-set up your phone according to the prompts, get it running (this was how I confirmed that it is the update that is the problem, not the provider, as my mobile network was totally fine and operating again on the older IOS)
  • Restore from a back-up again, but this time restore the back up that is with IOS 17.4.1

For me (here in Australia) this has allowed me back onto my network (4G at least - a return to 5G is a wait and see).

A caveat is that I'm restoring from back-ups on an iMac, not from the cloud. That may make no difference, but FYI.

Hope this helps a few people.

Gobsmacked that Apple must be aware of this but not acknowledging. Maybe they're frantically trying to fix!

I've had nothing but problems on my 14 plus since the update and everyone that I spoke with at Apple is acting like nothing is wrong.

  • data stopped working
  • cannot send pics to non apple users
  • phone number won't connect to imessage or facetime
  • can't send group messages

I did everything that Apple said to do, include change my physical sim, install am esim, nothing is working.

Since updating to 17.4.1 my phone is

  • not able to download anything or update any pages outside of wifi despite having more than adequate mobile data available.
  • Unable to update apps or reload if not in wifi
  • not receiving images that were sent via sms if they were sent while I was not in wifi service area at the time of receipt.
  • unable to listen to Apple Podcasts if not in wifi.
  • battery life has decreased
  • phone drops out during calls for no reason.

how do I fix this please?

The new 17.4 update:

  • Disconnected me from my Aura ring, as well as my Airpods. I was able to connect my Airpods again, but not my Aura Ring.
  • Silenced my alarm this morning so I was late for my appointment.
  • Deleted all of my Do Not Disturb settings.
  • Deleted ALL of my locked notes.
  • Signed me out of most of my apps.

**I'm sure it did much more but I'm at work right now, and haven't figured anything else out right now. I'm absolutely beside myself about my locked notes, because I had ALOT of information in there!!!!!!!!!!
