Bought a used phone from neighbor. Attempting to update ios to 17.4.1 from 17.1. Downloaded successfully but now stuck on preparing update....
What should I do?

You can try and delete the downloaded update and to download it again. See this on how to do that

I’m having the same issue right now! I just bought a iPad Air 5th gen and it’s stuck on preparing update and I can’t exit and I’ve restarted like 4 times. Idk how to fix it so I can actually use the iPad
I've plugged my phone as well into my computer, but the phone simply isn't showing up in Finder or anywhere else. This is enormously frustrating - Apple messed up big time. I've been working on this for 30 hours and still no solution.
Can anyone tell me how long they hat to wait for the new IOS 17.4.1 update I’m setting up my new iPhone 15pro max and I have been trying to update it now for 12 hours !!!!! Just wondering if it will actually sort its self out and actually update.
Same issue - new iPhone 15 pro stuck on trying to update to 17.4.1. Rang Apple support, useless. He Suggested sending the phone in for repair! Told support about the reports on this post. Said they are unable to view the Apple community discussions! No idea how to solve it from here…
I'm setting up a brand new 15 Pro and I'm also stuck with preparing the update. I cant go to settings to delete the update because the setup has not completed yet.

I'm having the same issue trying to set up a new iPhone 15 pro- I've tried restarting the phone but it keeps getting stuck at the same place in "Preparing Update"
Did you find any solutions? I'm same. I can switch the eSIM to the new phone but if I want to transfer my data from the old phone, I can't get it to complete.
Same issue. Brand new iPhone 15 Pro purchased today and cannot upgrade to 17.4.1. Just stuck at preparing update after downloading. Have erased / reset multiple times.
Are any of y'all experiencing massive battery drainage in addition to being stuck on 'Preparing Update...'?

Same issue with setting up 15 Pro from 13 Pro
The exact same thing happens to me. I can restart the process and sometimes get past “preparing update” but then it gets stuck on “1 second remaining”.
This worked for me.
