iPhone stuck on preparing update screen

The same thing is with me. I'm updating from a 12 to a 15 and it won't download the update :( Did any of you visit the service center, could they fix it or offer an update for the bug?

How do I get to the settings? Phone will not allow me to there based on where it is in the setup process

Thanks, but think this only works for a current phone with an owner. If you are unboxing and starting afresh the Mac doesn't recognise a virgin phone - mine didn't anyway. so you're stuck.

joining the club. my refurbished 12.9" M1 ipad is refusing to advance past either 'preparing update' or 'update requested'

This solution worked for me. iPad was stuck on preparing 17.4.1 update.

Now that you mention it yes my battery seems to be draining faster too

yeah, left phone at 100% last night, woke up with less than 70%

That got me "un-stuck". I'll hold off on repeating the update for a few days to see if there's a replacement update.

This worked for me too. Same experience as so many others with repeated attempts to install iOS update when switching from 12 Pro Max to 15 Pro Max
