Printing PDF document with Preview.app in colour, the fonts are blurred.

Dear all,

I have a printing problem and do not know what the cause is.

Initial situation:

- PDF Expert Version 3.9.2 (1038)

- Acrobat Reader 2023.006.20360

- macOS Sonoma 14.4.1

- Printer Ricoh NRG IM C300

Problem:

- When I print the PDF document with Preview.app in colour, the fonts are blurred.

- When I print the PDF document with PDF Expert in colour, the fonts are blurred.

- When I print the same document in black and white, the fonts are sharp.

- When I print the PDF document with Acrobat Reader in colour, the fonts are perfect.

(See picture)

I would like to have the same quality also with Preview.app.

What could be the problem?

I am happy for any advice.

Thank you very much!

You should print from Acrobat Reader as it produces the best result in font rendering and no one can keep their PDF reader as current as Adobe can. Apple's Preview will never match Adobe Acrobat in PDF handling and is based on much older PDF frameworks. Additionally, not every PDF is compatible with Apple's Preview.
