How can I get rid of “Smart Folders”?
I find that my laptop no longer allows me to create directories. “Smart Folders” are the only thing F’n Apple will allow (I’ve been a Apple user since Lisa).

X2 for what muguy has said.
What strikes me as odd, though, is that, as a Mac user since the 128K Mac, I don't recall the term "directories" being used when discussing file structures on a Mac. Folders, paths...yep....directories, nope.
Are you saying your MacBook Air no longer allows you to create new folders? Is this when you're in the Finder, or some other app?
You can create a new folder without creating a Smart Folder.
