CarPlay with iOS 17.5.1 not working

Since I updated to iOS version 17.5.1, CarPlay stopped working, I restarted, I reset the network connections, I hit forget phone in my car, I also deleted it from the phone, nothing works, I'm very disappointed that I updated it :(. Has anyone solved it?

SOLVED (for wireless connectivity)!

Step 1. Attempt to pair as usual and after a fail …

Step 2. Open iphone settings -> WiFi -> find car WiFi -> click into it -> press “Forget this network”

Step 3. iphone Settings -> Bluetooth -> check that car is not listed among devices. If listed delete it

Step 4. iphone Settings -> Search “car” -> open CarPlay -> see if car is listed and if yes then go in and delete it.

Step 5. Car steering wheel press “talking face” button until pairing dialogue appears on the car screen

Step 6. iphone Settings -> CarPlay -> tap on the discovered car and follow prompts on the phone and car screen.

i assume the issue was that phone had some residual memory of either WiFi network or Bluetooth settings and this needs to be wiped clean before pairing after the upgrade to iOS 17.5.1.

hope this works for you!

After upgrading OS to 17.5.1 I have troubles connecting iPhone to all my cars. Spending a lot time looking up ways to make it work in Apple community and elsewhere, removing device and reset phone and still find it not working.

I’m not sure it’s BMW or iOS but the issue occurs only after upgrading to this version. Certainly NO discussion with all the partners. How could they pass along the issue to the end customers. It has been very irritating trying to get the connection to work to all my cars. And it failed.

I also have this problem iPhone 15Pro upgraded to iOS 17.5.1 on Audi Q5. The iPhone will no longer connect via Bluetooth to the car. The connection continually fails with error message “The connection could not be established”. Have rebooted phone, deleted Bluetooth connection from iPhone and reconnected. Also tried deleting iphone from Audi settings and then reconnecting to a “new” iPhone again. Still doesn’t work. Not happy.

Same here. After 17.5.1 updates I have spent countless hours on the phone with Apple. They had me reset everything on my car and phone, even created another profile and the CarPlay issue is still there. I can connect via usb, but that’s not the point for a $1400 phone. Come on apple figure this out or android here I come! Beyond frustrating. I have have 4 people all with the same iOS software and they could wirelessly connect to CarPlay. This is unacceptable!

Same here with Toyota Touch (GR Yaris) which connects via USB. Both my iPhone 13 and partner's iPhone 13 Pro Max now won't connect post 17.5.1 update. Although Toyota Touch gets re-recognised in the CarPlay settings (after being cleared and the phone restarted), the USB connection is not recognised by the car's infotainment system. When connected via USB, the CarPlay connection appears and disappears randomly in General>About

Also wanted to add that the problem persists even after resetting network settings, changing cables etc. Six months ago the 17.2.1 update caused massive issues with connectivity and now history is repeating itself with 17.5.1. Could the iOS developers try to focus more on safeguarding the integrity of critical core functionality with proper sanity testing rather than sacrificing it in favor of releasing superficial enhancements?

Since I updated to iOS version 17.5.1, CarPlay has been glitchy. My phone has been glitchy while connected to CarPlay. I can't get Sirius or Google Maps through CarPlay. I can't open various apps on my phone (AccuWeather, my banking app, a few news apps) while connected to CarPlay. I can listen to Spotify through CarPlay. I've been able to make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages. I've tried all the usuals. Forget car. Reboot. Reinstall different apps. Shut down. Reset my phone. So frustrated.
