Is it Safe to Update iPhone 13 Pro Max to iOS 18?

Hey everyone,

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I'm thinking of updating it to iOS 18. Before I do that, I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with this update on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Are there any known issues or performance problems I should be aware of? Would you recommend going ahead with the update, or should I wait?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I propose to anyone with iPhone 13, to wait quite a while before he downloads IOS 18 or 18.1. I did a mistake, and did download it, and immediately had issues. Many calls in, go straight to some unknown answering machine. quite a few function do not work, the screen get stuck quite frequently . After taking my sim card to a spare iPhone for a few days, I received a msg from apple that iOS 18.0.1 would add the necessary patches to repair the faulty functions. I made another mistake, downloaded iOS 18.0.1, almost nothing changed. So wait until all bugs are well solved

That has not been the experience of millions (perhaps over 100 million) owners of iPhone 13’s who have had none of your issues. So perhaps you should troubleshoot what you are doing that is causing your issues.

This issue has been there for years together now. Multiple users, especially 12 to 14 series had reported green screen issue. I can confirm that because my 13 pro max phone got the green screen issue about 18 months back, luckily for me it was under the one year warranty period and so got the display replaced for free.

Further, when was in the service center I could see a lot of customers queuing up for same issue and many of them were denied free screen replacement because of out of warranty and were asked to pay up.

So to summarize, if you are luckily then your device wouldn’t get the issue. The best thing to do is not to update right now and only update to 17.7

Anyways, the device is not going to get the much hyped AI features which is available even in a basic android phone nowadays ( Apple says neural engine, processor etc.,).

Hard earned money, think about this as well - Compare with Google tensor processor which supports Gemini AI or a Snapdragon processor on Samsung devices in the same or little less price range.

Hello,

I recommend you to update to 17.7 because of the security updates and because it is a very good and stable version of iOS.

The battery is great and so are the performances of the 17.7 so far.

If your iPhone supports iOS 17, there is no reason why you shouldn’t move on to a good and updated version.

Keep in mind that the phone is made to be updated constantly and remaining to an older version can possibly be a security issue on the long run. Also, there are always multiple new features that are worth updating for.

Best of luck and be ensured that iOS is really worth updating to!

I'd updated my iPhone 13 Pro Max to iOS 17.6 recently. Soon after, there was a message prompting to service my battery as its health % showed 73%. A day after replacing the battery at an authorised Apple Service Centre, my phone started flashing n blacking out. Day after, the screen totally turned black n I could use it. Revisiting the service centre I was told this is an issue with the updated iOS which affects the display screen but I was informed that my iPhone is not covered by the warranty as it's totally black n not partially green or green which it would be covered n replaced free of charge. I was referred to call the Apple Hotline but the conclusion was still I'm Not Covered 🤬👎👎👎
