My understanding was that now in photos there is a new feature to remove objects from a photo and that it downloads automatically. It is called 'Clean Up'. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max with ios18 - how can I get this function?

Because it has not been released yet.
"Clean Up" is a feature of the Apple Intelligence update coming later this year. It s not yet available for any device.
It will only come to iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models when Apple Intelligence is released.

The person to whom you are replying wasn't saying they were able to access the feature on their iPhone 12. Rather, they were asserting, without evidence or actual understanding, that the iPhone 12 should be able to support the feature. They were wrong.

My iPhone 14 Pro Max doesn’t have clean up in photos even though i have a iOS 18 updated.
I have an iphone 15 + ios 18 but I also don’t have that clean up feature.
Oh no! I thought upgrading my phone would be the solution, but I won’t be in a hurry to do that based on your experience. I need to research more.

I don’t understand why iPhone 14 pro max doesn’t have this “cleanup” feature. Apps can do removal for years. Even the Samsung S22 Ultra had it. Sorry for my english
