iOS 18 Disable Video Looping in Photos App?

Top of this page, click preferences, then click off the wish to get all responses ("participation"). It seems you're going to disable for any other discussions as well, but it's all I've found. Unless this is what you meant by "unsubscribed."

Hello~ If you have posted into a thread more than once or at all for that matter simply “unsubscribing” all preferences defeats the purpose of participating here. This is a known issue in these forums. I have found that tapping the bell at upper right then refreshing or browse (repeating) and coming back as many times as you have posted until the bell is no longer solid in color is a workaround. If you have posted 20 times then you have your work cut out for you until this issue is resolved.

I didn't want to turn off all participation, but I need to do it temporarily as my inbox is filling with unhelpful email notifications of "I also have this problem" or complaining that Apple needs to change it when they don't even read this forum. And people keep "shouting" at Apple on this thread in spite of you and others telling people they need to post to Apple about changing the setting, not here.

I keep tapping the bell to unsubscribed and every time I come back I'm resubscribed.

I didn't even care particularly about the auto-looping, I was trying to find out if it's possible to turn off the "movie" option in photo libraries (apparently it's not).

I'll turn participation back on once this thread is done and locked (as I've found eventually happens to all threads here - the locking, I mean).

Anyway, thanks for the feedback (even though you were responding to the person who responded to me. ;) )

Hello~ Try my suggestion but if you respond again …it will start your notifications yet again. For those of us who participate a great deal here …it can be a definite issue so I do in fact unders. Take care.

Just do, as Katana-San suggested. Update to iOS 18.2, if you have not yet done so.

Then you can turn video looping off in the Settings > Fotos. The option should appear below the option to autoplay animated content.

Yes - most settings need to be user-defined not a permanent default. The photo (video) auto-loop feature is a nuisance, not helpful. Please give users a "on/off" setting for that.

Hello~ Read the last few pages of posts. The answer has been posted many times. It became available with iOS 18.2. Instructions and a very nice graphic posted to assist you. Take care and so you should be happy again….

Katana-San--Please repost or refer to date of "fix for iOzs 18 photo looping." I tried one "fix" mentioned but it actually had a missing piece or a false lead. If there is a diagram/image of menu/path to fix, please keep reposting.

Obviously many of us can't locate it & most links to "show more" don't show most recent posts nor the one to which you refer--only < Oct. or so. Very frustrating for us to hear about it but unable to see all postings! Just keep reposting the fix! Don't tell us to seek it in old postings please.

Settings > Apps > Photos... there is sadly no Loop Videos in my iOS18 on my iphone.

There is> Auto-Play Motion but.. that is turned off.

So your instruction is a dead end for me.

I just dug down & there is no MPL50 from the present & when you were posting ~Nov 28, "to wait for the update. So MPL50 seems to be MIA.

I’ve had nothing but unwanted changes since I installed IOS 18 on my phone. Hate the video looping, don’t like the new photo format, and texting options like before. How can this be a good update? What’s worse is now that it’s installed, it shouldn’t be removed (as per Apple advisors) and it can’t be returned to former applications. Total disaster!

to stop videos looping:

• go to settings app and search for “Photos“
• click on "Photos” on the list that appears
• When in Photos settings, scroll down and toggle the slider opposite looping off

there is nothing to report to Apple

I would like to undo the whole of the latest update. So many glitches and less easy to use in general. Biggest bugbear is video looping. This has to be fixed. I have a chronic condition and use relaxation recordings - but have to unrelax to turn the replay of the video off. Grrr
