Slow unresponsive Safari after iOS 18

I have upgraded to iOS 18 and since my iPad and iPhone are having difficult time trying to load pages in Safari. Some apps as well takes sometime to load things as such as video.

the issue is only on wifi. When connecting cellular it works fine.

note that other browsers are functional most of the time even on wifi.

I have deleted browsing history, removed vpn profiles, disabled extensions, private relay.

getting crazy a bit how to fix it and why it work on celluar but not wifi. I don’t want To reset network settings and loose all wifi passwords. I wish I didn’t upgrade

I’m experiencing the same issue! 😫You can try these method to fix.

Try checking Safari’s network permissions in Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, and make sure it’s allowed. Sometimes updates mess with these settings.

Also, try reconnecting to Wi-Fi or checking your VPN settings. if you're using a VPN, try turning it off or switching servers—it might be interfering with Safari.

Another thing you can do is reset the default search engine in Safari (Settings > Safari > Search Engine). This can refresh Safari’s connection. And turn OFF advanced tracking and fingerprint protection to sse if that helps.

Remenber to clear the cache and history on your Safari.

If none of these work, it could be a system issue. The ios 18 version always has these issue. You can use a computer to update or repair iOS, it helps fix system glitches without data loss.

I know how annoying this is—I was stuck refreshing pages endlessly. Hopefully, one of these fixes works for you! Let me know if these help.

I just got a new MacBook Pro (Nov 2024) with Safari (18.3) and was having a similar issue. For me, it was resolved by going to Settings, iCloud, then turning off "Private Relay". From one source I read, Private Relay routes your web traffic through Apple's servers on the way to- and from wherever it is going. So this adds a bit of time (especially if Apple's servers are congested), but the idea is then that Apple will anonymize the back and forth so that people can't track you. Seems like it could be a good feature if you are really concerned about being tracked online and if you trust Apple to keep all that data confidential. I'm not saying that I don't, I'm just pointing out the issue.

Anyway, turning off Private Relay seems to be working for me so far.

“Go to Safari in settings, turn off preserving ad measurement and also make sure advanced tracking Is only set for private browsing”. That seems to have worked for me. Browser is still a little slow but pictures are now loading and non connecting apps are now connecting. Thanks

worked for a few minutes. Photos are back to not loading but the apps are still connecting.

I’m wondering how much security I lose by turning off these advanced features ? How vulnerable will I be with them off? Would it be better to temporarily use a different operating system until Apple can fix all the bugs in iOS 18 that are screwing up so badly. In my instance, I have both cellular and Wi-Fi and it’s happening almost every time I hit a hyperlink. It says that Safari is unable to find the server.

I do still have the issues sometimes present, and it can be slow sometimes. However, it's much better than before. I had to close even the private relay in addition to the above settings. I wish I didn’t do the upgrade. Apple support and others couldn't help, and thanks to Omar, it was solved. I thought of moving to a different browser; however, my shortcuts and everything will be changed in time. I hope they release a fix soon, but we don’t need to be moved it is not worth it. it does take on a release being sent out and need to have them off.
