I was able to resolved it by signing out of my apple account and re login

Removing my iCloud account and signing back in worked for me too.
Signing out and signing back into my iCloud account also worked for me.
I also have this problem on a brand new iMac 24 with M4, Seuqoia... icloud sync works for pictures but stops for icloud drive for documents, then it works smoothly a couple of days, when suddenly it turns up again. I spent more than an hour with the Appel Care support, all VPNs taken away, restart, reinstallation... Curiously, it works on MacBook air with the same account, but with Sonoma... So I guess it might be due to some bug to be resolved throuhg an update??
I my case, re-logging in to icloud only resolved the issue for one day. After that, any file (even a 1kb basic txt file) that is synced with icloud could take up to a minute to save/open. (MacBook Pro M2 2023 / Sequoia 15.2)
Just started having this issue on my 2020 Intel MBP after the Sequoia update. MacOS keeps asking for my MBP password to restart sync and verify my security settings. This was annoying in the previous MacOS versions but this is a new level of core functionality disruption for Apple.
Having similar issues - Any apps using iCloud Drive seem to only sync intermittently. Some are apps I develop, but also getting problems with Notes, Photos and iMessage. Seems that one starts working, another stops.
My post from 11/22 is below for reference. My external backup (Western Digital) was able to resolve itself after the Sequoia up-date and I am able to extract my missing documents from it now. What pain in the neck, am only finding out what is missing as I look for documents. Before I posted on 11/22, I had signed out from Apple, from iCloud (after checking that nothing was there!) I do hope someone at Apple is paying attention.
Posted 11/22: Sequoia update 15.1.1 knocked out all my documents on my Mac Mini (M-2) and from the iCloud. Also changed settings, e.g. syncing Documents to iCloud and others. External back-up also seems to have been affected. At this stage, am at a loss how to get my documents back and would be grateful for some solid advice.
I had the same issue I suppose when I upgraded to Sequoia 15.3. I signed out of my iCloud account and selected keeping the unsynced files on my local device. But when I signed back in, all of the unsynced files are lost. I am soooo disappointed at Apple about this issue.
I also did not get any warning that the files are not syncing properly when the issue happened in Jan. 2025.
same here. I can see everything on my desktop, but when I try to attach things to emails, or open files, I see and empty clud sitting next to the file name. Where can I see what's happening with cloud???
AND whO at APPLE is looking at these issues? IT HAPPENS literally EVERY update. The last one, I had to simply take the Sonoma update OFF my computer. It just wouldn't work. I was so out of date on my OS I had to take this one and update Chrome too, or stuff wouldn't work. My computer is a 2019 iMac
Hi, do you mean signing out of iCloud through a different device ? I have the same issue described above but cannot even access iCloud on this MBP anymore so if it gets resolved by signing out on any other device I’ll try that. Thanks

I am having the same problem on my 2019 MacBook Pro. My computer says iCloud is synced but it lost all work from yesterday. Thank goodness my other laptop won't accept Sequoia. I can at least work off of that computer. Again, down time I am not getting paid for.
I recently updated to Sequoia 15.1.1 on my MacBook Pro and the iCloud Drive is not syncing. I have signed in and out of my apple account multiple times, removed and added back the device from my account and two IT techs at my workplace have looked at this and can’t find a solution. It doesn’t look like Apple has offered one in this thread either. Open to any suggestions!
