iPhone 16 Pro Max - Touch Screen Sensitivity Issues

I seem to be having touch screen issues with my new iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Sometimes the key touches aren’t recognised & in general the sensitivity and response to typing just doesn’t seem to up to the usual standard and speed. I’ve swapped to my old iPhone 13PM and you can definitely tell/feel the difference.

I’ve tried a reboot, removing screen protectors & cases but nothing is seeming to help.

I did read on Reddit that this could be a software issue rather than hardware which is what I’m hoping the case may be!

It is time that they adress us personaly , and tell us is this software issue or its a hardware issue.
anyhow , we deserve, espetiacly at this price point to have a touchscreen that actualy works

Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-use forum for feedback or suggestions. They also don't respond here. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

***update***

So the haptic response everyone thinks is a work around doesn’t actually affect the touch sensitivity of the screen. It just decreases the time it takes for the long press to partially open another window or select a different character on the keyboard.

I also wanted to see if since it’s a software issue, maybe installing the screen protector while the phone was off then booting it back up would make a difference - it didn’t. (The idea being that if the screen uses an electromagnetic field to determine pressure and touch, maybe the settings during initialization would respond to an extra layer of screen being present, whereas the palm protection is being engaged due to the screen protector being placed on while the phone was on and that was causing the issue)

Definitely experiencing ignored taps. It’s not just the issues related to the screen near the new camera button as you can read about elsewhere, it’s ignored keyboard taps, space bar, taps when you hit the archive button on emails (Lower left ) and elsewhere. Have to tap much harder in general than prior phone 13 pro max. It’s hard to do anything but especially type.

Upgraded from an 14 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max. Also been having this issue and it’s about to send me over the edge. I didn’t see a problem much and then I got my screen protector, same kind I’ve always gotten. Never had this issue before. I turned the sensitivity all the way up and I still have to stab at the screen while trying to type and go slowly to make sure it actually types what I want. For some reason, the spacebar seems to be affected more than the rest of my keyboard. I’m about to lose my marbles 🙃

I switched from iPhone 14 PM to 16 PM. It is such a disappointment since i use my phone to text a lot.

I’ve transferred data from iCloud backup to the new phone, and I noticed the touch screen issue since day 1. It seemed like the touchscreen is not responsive to light tapping especially when i try fast typing, regardless my right finger/ palm is near or not near the camera control.

I’m very concerned now this is hardware issue. Should i return it or wait for software updates?

Apple... we need to talk about the iPhone 16 Pro Max. This is the worst touch experience I've ever experienced, and I upgrade every year. There's clearly an issue with the effect of holding the phone near or over the new touch camera control button, and trying to type, swipe, or tap on the touchscreen. This is extremely frustrating. If you cannot address this with a software update urgently, I'll be returning my phone and demanding a refund for the first time ever. This is super frustrating!

That is what I hope too.

but please do understand this.

there are those of us who payed 2000€, and those of is who preordered the phone.

when will we know for sure is it a software update.

since now , the guys from Apple must seen this issue and still they didnt said anything about it publicly.

if its software , good i dont care , but if its hardware , we have a problem

I’m having the same exact issues. There’s a delay and I need to tap something 2-3 times sometimes. I have the ESR Armorite for the 16 Pro Max. I don’t think it’s the screen protector causing the issues. I have the 256gb black model. Shouldn’t be the problem, but maybe certain models have the issues? I had zero issues on my 13 Pro Max.

Also, has anyone tried out the screen before the day one update? Maybe the update messed it up?
