iPhone 16 Pro Max - Touch Screen Sensitivity Issues

I seem to be having touch screen issues with my new iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Sometimes the key touches aren’t recognised & in general the sensitivity and response to typing just doesn’t seem to up to the usual standard and speed. I’ve swapped to my old iPhone 13PM and you can definitely tell/feel the difference.

I’ve tried a reboot, removing screen protectors & cases but nothing is seeming to help.

I did read on Reddit that this could be a software issue rather than hardware which is what I’m hoping the case may be!

I’m in the exact same situation I went from a 13 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max and it seems delayed with the touchscreen. I definitely notice it when I’m typing on the keyboard, but also on other apps.

It is time that they adress us personaly , and tell us is this software issue or its a hardware issue.
anyhow , we deserve, espetiacly at this price point to have a touchscreen that actualy works

Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-use forum for feedback or suggestions. They also don't respond here. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

i am having the same issue here. Received the phone on 20th. Thought it was the screen protector but when i took it out, the issue persisted.

Went to the Apple store (TRX Kuala Lumpur) and they ran a diagnostic and found nothing wrong with the hardware. Since it's a new phone, they had no idea what to do.

they ruled out it may probably a software issue and asked me to wait for the updates.

***update***

So the haptic response everyone thinks is a work around doesn’t actually affect the touch sensitivity of the screen. It just decreases the time it takes for the long press to partially open another window or select a different character on the keyboard.

I also wanted to see if since it’s a software issue, maybe installing the screen protector while the phone was off then booting it back up would make a difference - it didn’t. (The idea being that if the screen uses an electromagnetic field to determine pressure and touch, maybe the settings during initialization would respond to an extra layer of screen being present, whereas the palm protection is being engaged due to the screen protector being placed on while the phone was on and that was causing the issue)

Same here on my 16 Pro Max. Certain areas seem mostly non-responsive, like the upper left corner which you really need to 'return to the previous screen'. Went to my local Apple Store. They tested my phone and it failed their touch diagnostics. They replaced it. Now two days later, the new one acts exactly the same as the original. I sure hope it's a software issue.
