iPhone 16 Pro Max randomly shutting down while using or locked

Mine shut down while I was posting in Facebook as if the battery went dead. Nothing would turn it back on so I plugged in the charger and in a few seconds it showed the Apple logo with black background and came back up. Had an 86% charge. WTF.

Has the Auto-Lock setting been checked?

Same thing is happening to me on the iPhone 16 pro max. 3x so far, and always while I’m scrolling or posting on either Facebook or instagram.

i can restart as if nothing is wrong, but have no idea why this is happening. Has never happened while the phone is just sitting there.

Battery was 90% plus and no charger cord plugged in every time this happened

I’ve been having the same issues. I have my 16 Pro since launch, the first time it happened was a few months ago and happens 2 times within 3 days. I posted about in on another forum but it didn’t happend since then so I let it be. Now it happened again, just now and yesterday. I’m not sure if I should contact Apple, it only happened 4 times so far, but that’s 4 times more than all my previous iPhones did. It could be an iOS issue but this is pretty unusual for a new iPhone (at least in my experience).

my iPhone 16 Pro Max is a 10 days old and it shot down 3 Times so far , I have to reset it , I spoke with Apple service care and they told me that I need to speak with T-Mobile. That was very sad. How can I buy an iPhone 10 days ago and start fixing it and taking to the Apple Store to the technician to see it so my time doesn’t count I only have one day off. Should that day I’ll be fixing my new iPhone. They should just replace it not telling me to Go to the service department to fix it

😫Same here! Mine turned off for no reason, but it automatically turned back on after a few seconds. Check out this article，it might help. I tried the methods and found part 2 quite useful, it may be the ios system problem, you can also try to update your phone to the latest ios to see if this help!✌

My iPhone 15 Pro has shut down erratically during the night while it’s charging. I’ve tried different suggestions to get it to turn on, telling Siri to “restart my iPhone” or pressing the up volume button and right side button at the same time and then trying to swipe right randomly on a black screen. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Usually it takes a while to get the Apple logo to show up and turn on. This has probably happened a dozen times in the last 6-9 months. What if I have an emergency and can’t get the phone on right away?! Apple knows this is an issue so why can’t they just work on a fix?

Me too today. iPhone 16 pro. I was looking at a photo and it shut off for no reason while on charger at about 80%. Battery life is perfect. I had to use power button to turn back on.

I have had it happen 4 or 5 times now originally I thought it had overheated on my desk under the hvac vent, but it happened while I was outside and it was 35 degrees too

Mine did as well just now … was in the middle of writing a long text and the screen suddenly went black. Tapping the screen and pressing side buttons wouldn’t wake it up. I powered it back up and of course my text draft was gone.

I have iPhone 16 and mine has shut down 3 times in the 3-4 weeks I’ve had it. All had full or more than 80% charge and once while it was plugged in and had 100% charge. I got a new iPhone 16 when my 13 Pro kept shutting down and would only work if plugged in.

Want to add that now my new iphone 16 randomly loses speaker and phone conversations fade out so the person I’m talking to can’t hear me, but I can hear them. This is ridiculous for a brand new over $1,000 phone. That’s why I had to upgrade from 13 Pro. Issues with battery dying and unable to use it unless plugged it.

I have an iPhone 16 pro max. Mine did it after hanging up a FaceTime call while connected to the charger. It has randomly shutdown a few times in the time I’ve had it. My screen has also shown some vertical lines for a split second a handful of times now.

This just happened to me just now. I was texting normally and then it went black.. when I noticed, it turned off completely and I just powered it on agian. So far, it hasnt happened again. I will monitor this. Plus I’m a Beta Tester. So, lets see what happens.

My phone shuts down randomly too, and I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks. It mostly happens when I try to make calls, and sometimes it won’t even connect—it just says “call failed.” Honestly, I wish I hadn’t upgraded and stuck with my iPhone 12. 😕
