I am unable to add my Apple MagSafe Wallet to my iPhone

Suddenly I'm getting a "Not Your Wallet" message when attaching very-much-my wallet to my iPhone. This wallet has always been mine, always paired with iPhone, always in "Find My" - until this morning. I'm wondering if this glitch has anything to do with IOS 18.

if you got the patience Apple will replace it after a couple of hours with them they decided after it’s gone to L3 support that they need to send me a new wallet. I am technical myself and write programs for over 20 years so I know the issue:-

  1. the wallet has RFID in it (think a unique serial number)
  2. Apple has a bug that you can remove your wallet from their tracking database and as far as “FIND MY” is concerned it’s gone but it’s still in Apples database
  3. So you try and re-ads or start your phone and it reads the RFID looks at the database and sees that RFID is not in your “Find My” set of device - hence the error

I was hoping with the debug season I had that Apple would simple identify the RFID remove it from their central database and we be fine. But life is not that simple :) good news is after 2 x hours with them and after L3 they decided we sent you a new wallet (works perfect BTW)

my advise if under guarantee just go to the Apple shop - with their support it takes take a ages and make you reset phone etc…

I too get this error. I bought the wallet from an Apple Store last spring and it has always been mine. Error started with my new 16 ProMax and iOS 18. Now when I reboot my phone it says not my wallet and does not acknowledge it being attached. Removing it from my phone and replacing, I get the alert but it does not warn me after 1 minute that it is removed and still says my wallet is missing in Find My. Removing it from my devices and adding again in Find My results in the error “this wallet is already attached to this account. It works normally until I reboot and then I have to remove and add again in Find My to get it working. This must be a bug for sure.

I opened a BRAND NEW Apple leather Magsafe and tried it out. The new one worked better than the old one, but not 100% correctly.

When pulling the new one on and off the iPhone I get the tactile vibration but no immediate visual notification that it was removed. The new one eventually gets some kind of notification after some minutes, but not the proper notification more like a banner one.

So, I'd say that the issue might be a combination of hardware in the Magsafe leather wallet and software issue with 18.0 and 18.0.1

I have not yet tried the 18.1 I will just wait for the official update.

When I phoned Apple they wanted me to delete (not just turn off but delete) any VPN apps I have on the phone, and reset Network settings. From prior experience with this sort of thing, I don't think VPN has anything to do with all this, because all of my AirTags still work fine, so why would MagSafe wallet be any different. Plus the fact that all this started with 18.0 update cannot be simply a coincidence.

Is this UNIVERSAL with EVERYONE who has updated to 18.0 ? I am thinking yes, but that some may be experiencing it just the way I described with the brand new Magsafe wallet, that is, still getting tactile notifications and delayed banner - such that they don't really notice that something is amiss, or think that this is the "new way" MagSafe leather wallet is notified in ios 18 - tactually, delayed or banner only.

18.1 has no effect. However, I have not had the problem with being unable to re-add the wallet after deleting it, but I have tested the over all FindMy system with both an older and a brand new wallet and neither works properly: the wallet gives only a tactile vibration upon removal, and only eventually a banner notification of detachment. Also, the location of the wallet does not update properly when removed or added.

This all started with ios 18 and has not been remedied.

A brand new wallet will not solve the issue. 18.1 does not solve the Proper and Immediate Notification issue either.

Aaaaand... it happened again last night. After having deleted and re-paired it I was out and had to detach the wallet from my phone for a little while, and when I reattached it I got the "Not Your Wallet" alert again. Detached and reattached this morning, and it's still "not my wallet," and lists where I was last night as the last place it was my wallet. Definitely an IOS 18 bug.
