iPhone 16 Pro Freezes and Restarts

My iPhone 16 Pro 256gb was fine yesterday. This morning, it has been crashing constantly. The settings app and the calendar app are the worst culprits. Calendar just freezes, you cannot drill down to the day. The settings app just turns black and then crashes. Multiple times the whole phone restarts. I tried a hard restart to see if it was a cache issue. Didn't help. I turned off the wifi and that seemed to slightly help when using other apps. One time the settings app worked and I went to see the analytics logs. Lots of crashes in there and 1 kernel panic. Also, Siri is not responding; just hangs there with no response.

I spent 3 days transferring all the apps from my iPhone 13 Pro and do NOT want to reset it again. Getting an authenticator app configured with all my accounts takes hours. This is very disappointing.

Anyone have any thoughts or proven solutions? Thank you in advance.

After 24 hours of being stable, the issues are back. No updates no apps installed. All apps are unresponsive now and cause kernel panics.

This is ridiculous on a brand new phone.

I am now on day 3 of trying to get my new phone to do ANYTHING without crashing. I reset the phone completely. It looked like it was downloading propery, but when I woke up this morning more than 2/3 of the apps had stopped downloading and now it just keeps shutting back off to the black screen with the death spiral. I am upgrading from an Iphone XR and this is EXACTLY why I didn't want to upgrade except the XR was starting to not want to phone anymore either. I gues my next step is to attempt to reset (If I can without crashing) and attempt manual from my ancient macbook. Im eady to toss this useless thousand dollar brick out the window.

I’m having similar issues, however my 16 pro and both of my previous 16 pro max’s all restarted. I came from Samsung so i did a full transfer which took 5 hours. Idk how it happened, but all of my near 9,000 photos synced to iCloud, to which i have to pay for added storage. Now, the photos app syncs the photos randomly and 1% a day i swear it’s going. I went in and mass deleted nearly 1500 unwanted pics & deleted 40 minutes of videos. Anyway, my phone is restarting no matter what I’m doing. It did it in the middle of a call, in the middle of deleting photos, it’s always restarting on me while I’m in the middle of doing something important or needed. I am growing so frustrated as i cannot figure out what is going on. I thought maybe it was the Background Refresh, so i turned it off. I did realize today that my WiFi temporarily turns off when phone is locked, and turns back on when phone is unlocked. Idk if maybe this is bugging it out? I also am having CarPlay issues. Today, my CarPlay completely bugged and froze in my BMW. Idk i just hope these bugs get fixed soon. AT&T told me there is a iOS 18.01 update but I’ve yet to see it

After two iPhones (the original bought and the replacement both setup with Move to iOS and then iCloud backup) had kernel panics, I contacted Apple support to ask how to setup the new third iPhone I got and they told me to set it up as completely new, to not even put my Apple account during setup but only afterwards in the settings.

Now my new iPhone is perfectly fine with no kernel panics and no camera freezing. I notice some touches are not registered but I hope they will continue to patch this issue.

PS - Apple support told me that if you restore from iCloud, factory reset won’t fix any issues stemming from the backup.

I have not had any further issues since updating to 18.0.1. I discovered that the Wireguard VPN app crashed my phone and also caused massive issues with the Network Settings and Cellular signal bars. It also causes settings to crash and restart. There are likely some apps that are misbehaving as well as things that are now addressed with the newest OS 18.0.1 patch. Wireguard still misbehaves and cannnot be installed on 18.0.1. Open VPN has no issues. If you get the reset circle when you run an app and things are weird, you found the misbehaving app. Uninstall the bad app, do a reset and see if things are stable.

I bought my iPhone 16 Pro with 1 TB of storage on September 22. After four days, it started freezing, and apps would appear and disappear. We thought it might be normal, but it kept happening every day and not just once. So, my family and I decided to go back to the place where we bought it, which was John Lewis.

We arrived, went to the counter, and told them that my phone was broken. They told us to wait in a specific area, so we went there and waited for our turn. Finally, when it was our turn, the representative asked what was wrong. I explained with my sister that it freezes, restarts, and apps disappear. He said, “Let me try something, and if it doesn’t happen again, you’re good. If it does, you’ll have to repair it.” But REPAIR IT? It’s less than two weeks old, and it’s already broken!?? He just said, “Yes, unfortunately, that’s the only option.”

In three days, I’m going back to Ukraine (home). I’ve been living in England since the war in Ukraine began. 💔 So we decided that after I return, we’ll go to an official Apple Store.

Now, I’ve been in Ukraine for two weeks, and it’s still freezing, even though he tried to fix it. I don’t know what to do—I saved up for a year to buy it because my previous phone was really broken. And I’m only 14. I earned the money by working hard, babysitting a young child, and doing manicures for people. That’s a lot of work for a 14-year-old! And now, I ended up buying another broken phone. ❤️😭😭😭

I done the restore back up, and I also had to do a full restore. I am still having problems with my 16 PM. The camera issue cleared up since apple replaced my phone. Yet everything else is not right. It seems to be a software issue. Messages are not sending phone calls being dropped even though signal is good. Emails are not coming in yet they are being delivered on my iPad etc. there’s a list of issues.

That was not the case for me... Previously I was using the iOS Beta on iPhone 13. Just a day or two prior to the release and receiving my new iPhone 16 Pro, I exited beta on the 13 thinking I could restore my phone but realized I could not because the backup was from from an older version of iOS so I had no choice but to setup as a new phone and reinstall everything from scratch on the new Pro.

Mine freezes and reboots once every couple days, at least that I know of anyway. So setting up from scratch has not worked for me.

Also, on my Mac M1 my photos are SO WHITE.. my god. Can't even read a label in the photo if I export it because it is SO WHITE. I'm not a photographer but photos are unusable if I export one. I know, unrelated to freezing iPhone.

Have had the 16 Pro since launch day. constantly reboots. have restored from ituners, from icloud and restored as a new phoine and reinstalled all my apps and games (took two days). a little bit better with store as new and reinstall everything. only reboots 5-10 times a day as opposed to 2-3 times an hour with local and cloud restores. already went to genius bar and talked to apple support staff on the phone, they have scheduled a vall back on tuesday so hopefully they can resolve...anything would be nice lol

My iPhone 16 Pro with IOS 18.1 restarts 2-3 times every hour, this problem started 3 days ago and is very frustrating, every time it restarts is running slow it doesn't connect to my WiFi network and CarPlay stops working I have to shut down manually and then everything stars working normally until it restarts again by it self. I posted this everywhere I cold this is not possible.

My problem is a tad different. I usually plug it in to charge and turn it completely off when I go to bed. Then it won't turn back on. I read to quickly push the sound up button, then the down button and then hold in the power button for 15-20 seconds and it will come on. I have had to do that 2 times since Saturday when I switched it over. No problem with moving my information over...went very quickly but just having problems powering up in the mornings. Anyone else having this problem?
