I upgraded my iPhone 12 Pro to a 16 Pro, and the new phone will not connect to my 2018 Mazda CX-5 with CarPlay. When I plug it in, it charges but makes no sign of connecting.

I had the same issue with my 2019 Toyota Avalon. I tried some cable adapters (both lighting and USB A) to convert one of the ends of the old cables I had. That failed miserably and didn’t work.
I bought an Anker USB-A A to USB-C cable for about $10 from Walmart. It comes with a cable wrap which is nice in the center console to keep things organized.
The new cable worked right away. CarPlay booted faster than ever before. No issues at all.

I also notice my iPhone 16 pro disconnects carplay(wireless) time to time. I used Iphone 11 pro max before the upgrade and never had this issue. My car is Mitsubishi Outlander 2023

i have the same problem with my CX-5 2022, as soon as the iPhone got linked, the screens turns black and disconnect the phone
I bought the cord and it worked for a couple days and now it won't work plugged in or not. I have a 2023 Honda Pilot Trial sport. Never had a problem with my iphone 14 pro. So frustrating.
I got the Apple 16, CarPlay works but now Siri doesn’t play my text messages nor can I hit the speak button for Siri to call someone. Or cancel navigation.
