CarPlay not working with iPhone 16 Pro

I upgraded my iPhone 12 Pro to a 16 Pro, and the new phone will not connect to my 2018 Mazda CX-5 with CarPlay. When I plug it in, it charges but makes no sign of connecting.

I had the same issue with my 2019 Toyota Avalon. I tried some cable adapters (both lighting and USB A) to convert one of the ends of the old cables I had. That failed miserably and didn’t work.

I bought an Anker USB-A A to USB-C cable for about $10 from Walmart. It comes with a cable wrap which is nice in the center console to keep things organized.

The new cable worked right away. CarPlay booted faster than ever before. No issues at all.

I ungraded my iPhone 11 to a 15 Pro and the 15 Pro would not connect to my Hyundai Santa Fe 3/2018 make with wired Apple Carplay. The symptoms: it would charge the phone, when connected to the USB A carplay port, carplay would show the ringing and after the call was answered but zero audio. No made or received audio phone calls or verbal maps directions would not come through to Carplay. Did you have the same symptons?

it was working totally fine with iPhone 13 with the wired CarPlay connection and not anymore when I upgraded to 16 Pro, my issue was it went on and off I couldn’t replicate the issue, it was completely fine in the morning for the first time connected and couldn’t change not CarPlay in the afternoon. I was using the USB A to C adapter to connect my type C cable, anyone has the same issue?

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max with the latest 18.4.1 update that I just made and I still can’t get CarPlay to work! I’ve done all the things it said to do factory reset the car reset my phone, turn off focus and restriction. You name it I did it! This is a waste of money getting these new phones and updating all these updates and CarPlay seems to still not be working IDK how it goes from working on my old phone and now working on this phone I don’t plan on going to Subaru to fix it because it’s not the car that changed. It’s the phone so Apple you need to do better!

I am also having this problem. I upgraded my phone a month ago. CarPlay worked fine - traveled and didn’t use my car for 8 days and when I came back CarPlay wasn’t working. I was using an Apple cable that worked fine. I have since bought four different cables and no luck. Three of the four cables are meant to be able to transfer 480mbps of data. Anyone have any solves?

I pulled an old phone out of a drawer and CarPlay works just fine on that one. It’s an eleven. It obviously isn’t a functional phone so it’s useless as a replacement.

I have purchased a Belkin data transfer cable. An anker data transfer cable and two cheap Amazon ones. The previous one that worked but stopped was an Apple cable.

I’ve reset my phone, I’ve restarted it 100 times. This was before I updated to iOS 26, but am now updated to that.

I drive a 22’ honda civic sport with wired CarPlay and I’m at a loss. It’s been theee weeks of not working and I’m genuinely so annoyed.
