CarPlay not working with iPhone 16 Pro
I upgraded my iPhone 12 Pro to a 16 Pro, and the new phone will not connect to my 2018 Mazda CX-5 with CarPlay. When I plug it in, it charges but makes no sign of connecting.

I had the same issue with my 2019 Toyota Avalon. I tried some cable adapters (both lighting and USB A) to convert one of the ends of the old cables I had. That failed miserably and didn’t work.
I bought an Anker USB-A A to USB-C cable for about $10 from Walmart. It comes with a cable wrap which is nice in the center console to keep things organized.
The new cable worked right away. CarPlay booted faster than ever before. No issues at all.
nope. I haven’t had luck with anything. My software is up to date and i’ve tried restarting network settings and forgetting my “car” and deleting all my bluetooth connections I even bought a new iphone cable thinking the first one was faulty :/
Which 5 steps?
I am only referring to CarPlay via USB: same 16 Pro Max works in my 2023 Ram but not in my 2019 Mercedes E class. Same legit data cable, tried many cables… older 13 Pro works fine as well. Will try the “allow access” setting, but appreciate the list you refer to… Cheers!
@ailina310. I ungraded my iPhone 11 to a 15 Pro and the 15 Pro would not connect to my Hyundai Santa Fe 3/2018 make with wired Apple Carplay. I recall Apple support telling me that the Apple Engineer new about the problem and that not much can be done.
I ungraded my iPhone 11 to a 15 Pro and the 15 Pro would not connect to my Hyundai Santa Fe 3/2018 make with wired Apple Carplay. The symptoms: it would charge the phone, when connected to the USB A carplay port, carplay would show the ringing and after the call was answered but zero audio. No made or received audio phone calls or verbal maps directions would not come through to Carplay. Did you have the same symptons?
Are the newly released iPhones compatible with wired CarPlay? If this is not the case, I will be returning this iPhone 16e.
Given the company’s rapid decline in market share, I sincerely hope they rectify this issue promptly.
Apple's tech support does not seem to understand the issue. I spent just over 30 minutes on the phone with them, and now the problem appears to be escalated to the technicians. It seems as though Apple is unaware of the situation.
Which one did you get. So many to choose. So frustrating, so many have the same issue yet Apple not put out an update to fix it. I even disconnected my battery on my car to reboot my cars entertainment software 🤣🤦♀️
it was working totally fine with iPhone 13 with the wired CarPlay connection and not anymore when I upgraded to 16 Pro, my issue was it went on and off I couldn’t replicate the issue, it was completely fine in the morning for the first time connected and couldn’t change not CarPlay in the afternoon. I was using the USB A to C adapter to connect my type C cable, anyone has the same issue?
How do you tell it to do carplay and handsfree? As in through Siri? I have the Pioneer headunit and my Iphone 13 never had any issues connecting wireless. I upgraded to Iphone 16 and it won't connect at all!
I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max with the latest 18.4.1 update that I just made and I still can’t get CarPlay to work! I’ve done all the things it said to do factory reset the car reset my phone, turn off focus and restriction. You name it I did it! This is a waste of money getting these new phones and updating all these updates and CarPlay seems to still not be working IDK how it goes from working on my old phone and now working on this phone I don’t plan on going to Subaru to fix it because it’s not the car that changed. It’s the phone so Apple you need to do better!
Also, I always was able to use my CarPlay wirelessly. However, the cord that I used to use was also able to work for CarPlay. I haven’t changed the cord and it still won’t work. You would think with the amount of money we spent on these phones they provide chords like they used to instead of stupid headphones.
I also face this issue & still not solve .i use Carpuride wireless device for my Skuter & use I phone 16 pro .i tried all options but still not solve .but it works my old phone iPhone XS Max .
I have the same issue with her 2020 RX 450 HL. I changed content in settings to be allowed. But it’s still only works occasionally and only if I have the phone plugged in before I start the engine.
It works fine on my wireless CarPlay on our newer RX 350 H is there anything else I need to do differently?
I am also having this problem. I upgraded my phone a month ago. CarPlay worked fine - traveled and didn’t use my car for 8 days and when I came back CarPlay wasn’t working. I was using an Apple cable that worked fine. I have since bought four different cables and no luck. Three of the four cables are meant to be able to transfer 480mbps of data. Anyone have any solves?
I pulled an old phone out of a drawer and CarPlay works just fine on that one. It’s an eleven. It obviously isn’t a functional phone so it’s useless as a replacement.
I have purchased a Belkin data transfer cable. An anker data transfer cable and two cheap Amazon ones. The previous one that worked but stopped was an Apple cable.
I’ve reset my phone, I’ve restarted it 100 times. This was before I updated to iOS 26, but am now updated to that.
I drive a 22’ honda civic sport with wired CarPlay and I’m at a loss. It’s been theee weeks of not working and I’m genuinely so annoyed.
I am so disappointed! My new iPhone 16 Pro does not work connect to my Carplay in my Toyota CHR. Had I known this, I would have upgraded to an iPhone 15 Pro instead. :(
