I upgraded my iPhone 12 Pro to a 16 Pro, and the new phone will not connect to my 2018 Mazda CX-5 with CarPlay. When I plug it in, it charges but makes no sign of connecting.

I had the same issue with my 2019 Toyota Avalon. I tried some cable adapters (both lighting and USB A) to convert one of the ends of the old cables I had. That failed miserably and didn’t work.
I bought an Anker USB-A A to USB-C cable for about $10 from Walmart. It comes with a cable wrap which is nice in the center console to keep things organized.
The new cable worked right away. CarPlay booted faster than ever before. No issues at all.

Was that with Bluetooth CarPlay or USB-A to USB-C carplay
I’m going see if I can take it back. I want Google Maps on the big screen. It’s safer.

my 16e wont connect to carplay either. i have no yet identified a way to make it work.
wish i stuck with my $200 android, never had any issues.
i dont see that option on my 16e. ive looked in every option in settings.
yea is this just not supported? see no mention of carplay in the tech specs
