Having issue on my iPhone 16 pro max 512 gb when launching camera control from Lock Screen it’s crashing the camera app. Screen turns black and crashing. Also phone seems to be getting abnormally hot when playing games or recoding video for a short period of time. Anyone else experiencing these issues and wondering if it’s a software or hardware issue.

IOS 18.0.1 did NOT solve the camera crashing issue for me.
18.1 official release will fix the problem. I've upgraded to 18.1b7 and had no issues since. Everything been rock solid and working as intended.
Happens several times a week for me, i wonder how this got through product testing.
Same issue. Apple even said my device was faulty and replaced it. Two days later same issue
18.1 (not 18.0.1) is the fix you’re looking for. Don’t waste your time restoring or starting over.
Be careful what you play with in the settings so you don’t invalidate your warranty. Your best bet is to restart the device when it happens. That way, you still have all your previous activity intact and you can go back them if you want. Simply reach out to apple if it becomes unbearable. I’m sure they’ll be more than willing to sort it if not gonna be sorted in upcoming updates. For me, I just restart the phone since it doesn’t happen everytime.
I am experiencing the same issue on my iPhone 16 ProMax with 18.0.1 installed and several reatarts
My 16 pro crashes on opening camera taking a photo the conventional app method,the battery level drops to 1% then springs back. If I use camera control to launch and take a photo there is no issue.
Try turning off sound recognition. Seems to help.
IOS 18.0.1 did NOT solve the camera crashing issue for me. Each day issue is popping up, only solution is to restart the phone.
In my case, and at least a few others, turing off Sound Recognition solved the issue.
based on what some others have mentioned, I’ve turned off Macro and Sound Recognition and I haven’t had a crash since. Also, battery life is much, much better. As a reminder I’m on a 16Pro Max.

Also there is calling issue. People cant hear me. Even after restarting the phone . My voice is not audible to anyone
I’ve had that issue as well. Happened a couple of times but not for a while now. Same symptoms, I could hear caller but they could not hear me.
Same here. It’s so frustrating I can’t take a picture! Restarting only help’s briefly. I have plenty of phone storage. I don’t understand…
