Camera app crashing on my iPhone 16 Pro Max

Well turning off Sound recognition didn’t fix it for long. Was on holiday this week. Pulled my phone to take pics and multiple crashes to a black screen.

Camera app keeps crashing bc instead of taking pictures. New update hasn’t fixed the issue. Please help!!!

Hello~ Apple is not here in the way you mean…just us …your fellow forum members. Try updating your iPhone to iOS 18.1 as it’s just been released.

The 18.1 seems to have solved this issue of camera issues

18.1 installed. Have been playing with the camera and so far no crashes. Early days I know, but will report back if anything changes.

The newest update: iOS 18.1 has fixed all my problems! Update now!!

Update to 18.1 and the problem will be gone!

In your case when you say your last reset was 6 days ago I’m confused. Are you saying the issue is still apparently fixed after resetting it since it was last done 6 days ago…1 day after you got it? Or are you saying you haven’t reset it again after the one time 6 days ago? Did Apple Support suggest it was a software issue? Offer a replacement if they couldn’t say for sure if it was a software issue? Thankfully I haven’t had any of the issues mentioned on my 16 Pro Max (so far) and until Apple official says there is a known software issue (or releases an update that says it addresses the issues mentioned) it would be anyone’s guess as to what is causing the issue or is it is definitively a software issue

Really disappointed with my 16 pro 256GB Camera not working crashing cannot even able To take one picture i was not expecting this from Apple in this thread more than 50 ppl have the same problem so what is next? Any official reply? Any update how long it will be sort? Really sad 👎🏿

Mine does too I took it to a Apple Store and they gave me a new replacement but I’m guessing it’s a software issue because this new one also does it I hope they address the issue and fix it considering that there main selling point is the new camera button

I also have the problem with the camera on my new iPhone 16 Pro 512 GB with IOS18. The camera app crashes regularly, at least once a day. The microphone stays on for some time and the device gets hot. It automatically switches from power-saving mode to normal mode. It is always necessary to restart the iPhone. I hope it is purely a software problem. Otherwise I would expect Apple to issue a recall. 🤷‍♂️

I was desperate like you. I followed nevertheless an advice from an apple tech. And it seems to work.

I had to instal a profil for my work which I did the first day after transferring from my old IPhone.

This morning I uninstalled the profil and reinstalled it.

until now I had non more issues with the camera. Hope it’s going to keep that way…

Also having this issue - have checked for updates and force restarted several times. It only fixes it temporarily and then it continues to crash any time I open it, whether it's using the wake button, the lock screen icon, or opening the app while the phone is unlocked. In general, the phone seems incredibly sluggish, I noticed this especially during one instance where the camera app did open, but started clicking as if I'd pressed the button multiple times and it was catching up

I have the iPhone 16 Pro and when I turn it on the camera turns off immediately and the iPhone stays locked for seconds, to temporarily solve this problem I always have to turn the iPhone off and on again and the problem is solved for a few hours but then the problem comes back again

I’m dealing with the same issue. iPhone 16 pro.

I’ve missed so many moments due to the camera freezing, stuttering, delaying the capture or completely crashing altogether. I am currently doing a diagnostic session for 24 hours with Apple. Hoping they are able to pinpoint the issue and that they have a solution.

I am tired of turning my phone on and off 29 times a day.
