iPhone 16 Pro Max not charging wirelessly in my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Am experiencing significant issues when using the wireless charging pad in my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee with my iPhone 16 Pro Max. Will briefly charge with the blue light, then after 30 seconds to perhaps a minute, it goes flashing red. This did not happen with my previous iPhone 11 Pro Max. I suspect the raised lip around the camera is the problem, as the phone can never lie completely flat against the charging pad. Anyone else experiencing this sort of issue? Thanks!

I don’t think it’s the raised edge. I have an Otterbox Commuter case for iPhone 16. With the inner part of the case with the raised edge, the phone charges in my 2022 Prius. With the outer hard case on, which seems to include the MagSafe part, the phone won’t charge on the wireless charger. The charger’s orange light blinks indicating that either a foreign substance is between the portable device and the charge area [like the MagSafe magnet area, on the hard case, I think] or the portable device is out of sync due to the device being shifted from its position [which didn’t happen, because it hadn’t moved]. I’m going to return Otterbox’s MagSafe case and buy one without MagSafe. Hopefully that works!

I have exact same problem. This is not related to phone case or car chargers not being flat. 100% Apple issue. I also have iPhone 16 Pro Max. It fails to charge wirelessly. Issues with the Apple internal parts? I took it to Apple Store and they are “fixing it” now. I will see what happens. I have upgraded from iPhone 15 Pro Max. Looks like I made a wrong decision. I can see that so many people have same exact problem. Mine failed to charge on home wireless chargers. With or without a case, the only way to charge the phone is by using a direct cable. So disappointing for a phone that costs over $1,300. Someone needs to take action to resolve this issue. I have verify with different wireless chargers exact same problem. My wife’s iPhone 15 pro works fine on wireless chargers. iPhone 16 Pro defected 100%!

So how is this not a Subaru issue? Charging works just fine in my GM Yukon XL. I’m using iPhone 16 Pro Max and my wife is using a 15 Pro Max. Charges either iPhone just fine. My wife’s iPhone is in a case and mine isn’t. This seems to me ti be a Subaru issue.

I remember when the iPhone 15 Pros came out in 2023 and BMW had to step up and admit they had an issue and send out a fix. Have you talked to your dealer about the issue?

I just unboxed and activated my new iPhone 16 Pro. I have been using a 30W magnetic charging stand with a small enough puck that it connects directly to the back of the phone and the iPhone 16 Pro will still exhibit the same behavior that is being described here. It attempts to charge for about 30 seconds and then disconnects from the charger. Being that it is magnetically coupled, it eventually re-establishes the charge attempt and repeats the process all over again.

I did not have an opportunity to try it with iOS 18.0 since I just activated today. This is extremely disappointing. I have yet to use the one in my car, but I suspect it will also fail to work as this appears to be a software issue from what some of you are saying.

Apple, please do better. This is absolute nonsense for how much you charge for these devices.

Yes. I happen to use the same case brand and I've been charging the 15 pro always with the case, with no problems. But for the test I took both off. What I'm seeing now is that while navigating with maps on carplay and charging wirelessly , the 16 pro is struggling. In a 45 minute journey the 16 pro went from 48% to 49%. In this same journey the 15 pro would always top it's charge.

Mine has trouble on every magnetic charger I have tried it with. I can’t stand plugging it in at night to the charger it came with so it charges on my bedside magnetic a little at night-usually up to 65% or so, then I have it on other magnetic chargers all day until it finally gets to 100%. I thought this one was supposed to work BETTER universally. I find it extremely disappointing and I wish I had not gotten rid of my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

I have had my iphone 16 for two months and I thought it was me! I have tried two different cases but both present the same problem in the car and on my charging pads. My next step was to try a smaller charging pads but this means replacing this in 4 spots. I am so annoyed and have never hated an iphone so much right now. New phone and I have the same battery life as my xr.

Well, although this issue sucks and is still a problem, I'm glad to see it's not me. Unfortunately, I just upgraded to the iphone 16 Pro Max and like everyone else here, it doesn't wirelessly charge in my car OR any of my wireless QI chargers. Thought it was the case and then the raised cameras, but I guess we go backwards and use a cord again. Frustrating, especially given the cost of this.

I agree- first time I have ever been disappointed with a new iPhone purchase. My iPhone 16 doesn’t work with any wireless charger (including my 24 Subaru). It starts charging but stops after 30 seconds. If I pick up the phone and place it back on the wireless charger it will connect and charge but the stop after another 15-30 seconds. Wish I had not changed from my iPhone 12
