iPhone 16 pro max overheats when being charged.

my phone gets very hot within just 5 mins of charging. Is this a software issue. If so should I change my battery settings to optimal charging so that the iPhone charges it without letting the device overheat, I currently have the device set to charge only till 80 percent.

If you using at least a 20w charger to charge your iPhone, heat is normal. When you charge a battery it causes the battery to generate heat. If you are NOT seeing a thermometer and a warning your phone needs to cool down, your phone is NOT overheating. Now, if you use Optimized Battery charging, your phone may charge to 80% rapidly, then display a message the phone has suspended charging to cool down. This is new and NOT an indication your phone is overheating, either.

My iPhone 16 pro max overheated while charging and then went in a cycle of restarting until the battery was 0. It did not cool down on its own which I see as a huge concern. Now it will only turn on when it is on a charger, as soon as I unplug it the phone keeps restarting and whenever the Lock Screen appears it shuts down immediately and restarts. 2 months old. Apple analytics say that “software and hardware is normal”, my battery says it’s normal and 100% capacity.

Clearly something is not normal!
