My Apple Watch tracking steps count inaccurately

Hello! I am having trouble with my Apple Watch not accounting for my steps accurately. It adds steps significantly less than it should be, I have even taken walks and counted my steps (in my mind) and compared it to what my watch calibrated and it's less than half :(. I have tried recalibrating this different ways without success. Does anyone have any recommendations or know how to recalibrate this given a method that is effective? Thanks in advance!

Did you make sure that your watch arm is also moving back and forth during the walk?

This movement is counting the steps you take. If your arm is not moving, because you are carrying a bag, walking your dog on a leach or pushing a stroller, for example, the watch will count less steps.
