New Magic Mouse USB-C Does Not Scroll

I just got a brand new USB-C Magic Mouse, and can confirm that it doesn't scroll on Mac OS 14.7.1. This is very frustrating after returning one and ordering another magic mouse. I hope Apple can provide a fix soon.

I've maxed out on Ventura 13.7 and of course, it doesn't work for me either. Guess I'm going to send it back...

You cannot charge $ 99 for a product that is not working. I am working on a MBP14"-M3 with Sonoma 14.7.1

Yeah man, I just spent $9,866 on a new Mac Studio and the mouse is as meek as, well a mouse.

My old mouse used to make me cups of tea in the morning and keep me warm at night, the new mouse doesn't even scroll. I'm taking it back to the store. Oh that's right, there is no Apple store in NZ.

A company that has a business model that makes really nice kit, is repairable but is obsolete after 10 years because they won't let you update the OS or they change the charging points, is still a sh*t company. On top of which the obsolete equipment ends up in landfill.

Imagine if you couldn't use your beautiful hi-fidelity stereo system because you couldn't replace a 50c fuse, you would be pretty upset but you wouldn't be upset with the manufacturer because the stereo is 40 years old. Apple is still going and their equipment is obsolete after 10 years.

How do they get away with that? I'll tell you, because there is no competition. A multinational Corporation (except NZ), registered in a tax haven, does not pay any income tax on profits is a company that is a bad corporate citizen.

Hey clayne11, I had the same problem. It turned out the reason was that 3rd party program was messing up with the trackpad settings. In my case it was SteerMouse, you may want to check if you have it or any other mouse-tweaking app installed.

I think the fact that so many people have this problem and the actual problem is putting out a product requiring yesterday's OS (for no transparent or logical reason) is sad. Sadder than that is the fact that Apple does nothing about it! Do they expect people to buy a simple mouse and then go home and upgrade the OS for it? Just because this one has USB-C? Cuz otherwise is no different that the older one...

Can confirm- same problem with USB-C mouse- no scroll function on Sonoma 14.6.1. I didn't even know there was a new OS. This thing is going back.

Same -My battery mouse is still working better than 3 other old lightening mice that wore out ! Returning this USB-C mouse and getting a used but newer lightening version. Apple is only selling the new mouse that won’t work with its newest OSs ? Can’t get a lightening mouse (that actually works) new ?

That’s either really shady or a total mess. I have a new MacBook Pro and didn’t even know there’s a new OS. Really bad form

Same- just bought new Mouse and no scrolling. Was running 14.6.1 which is NOT old (it's a brand new macbok air). I'm updating to 15.1 and will see if that works. Really weird it's not working. Wasn't it released years ago??

Yep- same. Upgraded to 15.2 and it started working.
