Trying to backup my MacBook Pro. When I try…I get a message that it cannot back up when on battery. It is plugged into the electric and working. It does not show low battery. What can I do remedy this action

Open Time Machine Settings... > Options... and enable "Back up on battery power".
I wonder if Optimized Charging is performing its action by draining the battery so the power adapter may not appear in a state it wants. Does the battery icon at least show a plug or charging symbol to indicate the power adapter is connected?
